Previously titled “The Never-Ending Story” and “Miss Ghost's Strange Tales Gathering”
Complete (all chapters posted at once), currently undergoing editing, including but not limited to plot and typos. Extra chapters may appear from time to time.
(Not recommended for readers looking for a romance, because there isn't one. See the author's note in Chapter 25 for details.)
(This was written on a whim, and honestly, I don't recommend reading it.)
Meng Yonghua was woken up as a strange-tale Boss.
Still seething with morning grumpiness, she was invited to some banquet. The venue was awful, the host had terrible taste, and worst of all, there wasn't even anything to eat. There was even noise when she tried to sleep at night.
(Interview:
Strange Tale 1: The old local big shot invited her to dinner and got turned into sashimi.
Strange Tale 2: I just got into a fight with Strange Tale 3 in front of her, and she beat me up for ages. (Crying JPG)
Strange Tale 3: ...
Oh, it seems Strange Tale 3 is almost dead. Let's look forward to our next interview.)
Before she could hurry back to her hometown and go back to sleep, she discovered that the world outside had changed.
Even strange tales were being registered and assigned official posts.
Great benefits, good pay, and emotional support to boot.
Comrade Meng Yonghua was very satisfied. With a wave of her hand, she signed a contract and joined the department. At an awards ceremony, she used a new phrase she'd just learned to make a bold declaration: Her goal was to keep up the good work and become the laziest slacker around.
The audience applauded, all wearing serious, earnest expressions as they voiced their agreement and said they would learn from her. Her supervisor stopped them.
A forum app quietly appeared on the phones of some people who were about to end their lives.
[Are you troubled by something? Are you facing difficulties? Is there something painful you can't bring yourself to tell the people around you?]
[Come on, tell me. I'll help you solve your problems and answer your questions. All you have to pay is a story~]
Meng Yonghua watched one story after another appear on the forum. The light reflected from the screen revealed her ever-widening smile.
(The heroine simply loves hearing stories. If the client has no issues, she really will solve their problems. She has never harmed anyone, past or future.)
The setting is entirely fictional, with original worldbuilding. Please don't associate it with real life. Any resemblance is purely coincidental.
The characters are not perfect.
Written on a whim.
Theme: Good deeds are rewarded
