The play-it-safe heroine who wants it all vs. the sweet-talking, kindhearted schemer
Li Dai transmigrates into ancient times as an overlooked daughter of a powerful family.
With no System and no golden finger, she keeps her head down and does whatever it takes to stay alive.
To avoid getting caught up in a palace power struggle, she carefully steers clear of every ambitious royal with a bright future, and spends all her time with one sickly young man whom nobody pays any attention to.
On the day she marries the sickly young man, the System awakens.
The System tells her that the sickly young man is the male lead.
He'll become the emperor, a moody tyrant with the power of life and death in his hands.
And she is the male lead's doomed first wife, his cannon-fodder white moonlight, destined to die young and make way for someone else.
She tells the sickly young man all about it.
Then, trembling, she asks him:
"How about we get a divorce?"
She wants to live. She doesn't want to die.
To her surprise, the sickly young man gently wipes away her tears and tells her that his System has awakened too.
By candlelight, he gives her a knowing smile:
"The System says you're the heroine, and I'm your husband who dies young. After I die, you'll become queen, have more riches than you can count, and keep a whole harem of handsome men."
She stares at him, eyes wide.
And feels just a little tempted.
So this is a crossover world.
It's not yet clear who's the protagonist.
"So let's just make do for now and see how things go."
"If it doesn't work out, we can get divorced later. How does that sound?"
Li Dai thinks it over, then agrees.
The next day, she can't get out of bed, and begins to seriously question the state of the sickly young man's health.
Is he really sick?
But he's so good to her that she can't quite bear to leave.
So she decides to wait a little longer.
She waits and waits, until the lies come to light.
The day the sickly young man becomes emperor, Li Dai packs her bags and flees in the middle of the night.
She hasn't gotten far before she's caught and dragged back.
The young and handsome new emperor pins her to the cold imperial throne. She trembles.
The new emperor rubs his thumb over her lips and asks casually:
"My empress, where do you think you're going?"
Li Dai has three regrets:
First, she shouldn't have believed he was sickly.
Second, she shouldn't have told him she had a System.
Third, she shouldn't have told him about the modern world, giving him material to make up lies and fool her completely.

To marry Li Dai, Yan Jue plots at every turn, relying on superb acting and unmatched intelligence to defeat countless rivals and come out on top.
At last, his wish comes true. But as he lifts her veil, the woman he's been longing for tells him an absurd story, then asks for a divorce.
He shows nothing on his face, but laughs coldly inside.
Divorce? Not a chance.
