Why Can't a Mermaid Be a Slacker?

The only thing office worker Yu Jinyan wants out of life is to lie flat like a salted fish. Then one day, half his wish suddenly comes true. Why only half? He becomes a fish, well, a mermaid in the interstellar age. The good news is that mermaids don't have to work. The bad news is that his former human kin want to capture him and make him lay eggs. Another piece of good news is that he's being raised by a rich and handsome human, so he can completely lie flat... Then comes another piece of bad news: his human seems to be a lunatic...

When the commander of the Third Legion, Cherris, destroyed an interstellar pirate hideout, he rescued a little mermaid, one with an unusually high compatibility with him. With his mental strength already on the verge of collapse, he naturally adopted the mermaid after everyone urged him to. It's just that his mermaid is a little strange...

He likes floating on the water pretending to be a dead fish, terrifying the butler into shrieking every time.

He likes chips, fried chicken, junk food, and melodramatic interstellar dramas. He has a powerful stomach and is not at all delicate or hard to care for.

He likes calling him a two-legged beast and ordering him around, with none of the timidity or skittishness of the mermaid race.

He likes singing nursery rhymes, sings terribly, and has none of the mermaid race's gift for song, but his healing abilities are remarkable.

He likes space-war mecha games. His record is... a complete disaster, so he makes him play for free.

He likes growing legs for long periods, then forgetting to get in the water, so he gets dehydrated several times and calls his caretaker to save him.

Then one time, his mental strength went out of control and he transformed into his white tiger form. His mermaid's eyes lit up as he looked him over and put his hands all over him...

Aren't mermaids supposed to be terrified of cat-type beastfolk?

His fish is quite... unique?
