Gentle owner bottom x gloomy plant top
Shen Shidu kept a Venus flytrap.
Every day, he watered and fertilized it, and sometimes stroked its cool leaves.
"Grow a little slower. The pot's almost too small for you."
He didn't know that the Venus flytrap was waiting, growing strong enough, waiting for its roots to spread and its traps to grow large enough...
Large enough to swallow a person.
-
On the night it took human form, Shen Shidu was woken by a noise. A figure stood in the dark, long hair falling over half of its pale back, its face so exquisitely beautiful it seemed almost otherworldly.
Shen Shidu looked down. Green vines extended from behind the figure, coiling around its ankles, calves, and knees. They weren't tight, but they left no room to escape.
So this is my Venus flytrap...
Shen Shidu understood. He didn't struggle. He simply raised his head to look into those green eyes and asked,
"Are you going to eat me?"
The Venus flytrap tilted its head.
The vines tightened and pulled Shen Shidu in front of it. Those green, slit-pupiled eyes drew close, near enough for him to see his reflection in them.
Cold lips pressed against the side of his neck.
They didn't bite.
They simply rested there, feeling his pulse. As if confirming something.
Shen Shidu closed his eyes.
He remembered that rainy day three years ago, when he'd spotted this nearly dead Venus flytrap in a corner of the flower market. The flower seller had said it was strange and that whoever raised it would die. He refused to believe it.
He took it home.
Fangs pierced his skin.
Shen Shidu's fingers curled slightly, but he didn't push it away.
"...All right." He believed it.
He had raised a monster with his own hands, one that was trying to eat him.
But...
Shen Shidu hadn't expected it to eat him like this!!
It was only when the vines pinned him into the mattress that Shen Shidu belatedly realized something was wrong.
The figure looked down at him, its pupils gleaming. A hand slipped beneath his hem, brushing over his ribs. Shen Shidu couldn't help flinching.
The Venus flytrap stopped and tilted its head at him.
The newly transformed monster hadn't yet learned how to eat its beloved. It needed someone to teach it.
#It takes a Venus flytrap five to seven days to digest prey, but for its beloved, it will take a lifetime#
