The Cat and the Oathkeeper

The day unemployed office worker He Mingche was kicked out by her landlord, all she had besides pockets cleaner than her face was the calico cat in her arms. She had only one question on her mind: Where was she going to sleep tonight? She never expected the answer to be the Underworld. Even less did she expect that the chubby cat she had rescued and raised for years, which spent all day eating and sleeping, would turn out to be a soul guide. And somehow, she herself became its Oathkeeper. On top of adjusting to a new matriarchal world ruled by women and cats, she now had to deal with: New job: a junior security guard at the Hall of the King of Hell. New coworkers: all women and cats. New problems: the King of the Underworld has gone missing, a demon dragon seems about to awaken, and time and space are in turmoil everywhere. Meanwhile, her seemingly most reliable boss, King Yama, is said to have committed the grave sin known as “Earthbound.” Holding her cat in her arms at the gates of the Underworld, He Mingche asked the most pitiful question of her life: “Um… how much does it pay per month? Is room and board included?” But Pingdeng Wang Luan Qing simply bent down with a smile and held a finger to her lips. “Now, my dear Night Patrol Envoy, listen carefully to what your big sister says.” Main couple: clever but adorably clueless INTP He Mingche × cool on the outside, warm and deeply devoted, self-restrained INTJ Yan Qiluo (A divine romance where they both go after each other. P.S. “Divine” in every sense of the word.) [Bystander]: Be careful around your boss, King Yama. She’s difficult, fierce, never smiles, and doesn’t like dealing with anyone. [He Mingche]: I don’t think so. She’s really nice. Just yesterday, she invited me to Sunset Café to discuss something. [Bystander]: ? No way. She always keeps work and private life separate, and avoids contact with people unless absolutely necessary… [He Mingche]: That’s not so bad. She even lent me her own car so I could investigate a case. [Bystander]: ?? Wait, she’s really aloof. She barely says a word to her subordinates… [He Mingche]: Not at all. She asked me to link arms with her, and when she got hurt, she leaned on my shoulder and told me she was exhausted. [Bystander]: ??? What exactly is your relationship with her? Are you dating? [He Mingche] (bewildered): What the hell? We’re boss and employee. [The entire novel is already written and is currently being revised for completion. Read with confidence.] (Updates every other day, usually at 11:30 p.m.) [All-female cast; the main couple and main plot have happy endings. A world of universal harmony: all characters are presumed to be women and attracted to women.] (The only male villain so far is a tomcat, purely an adversary with no romantic entanglements with any character.) (“Soul capacity” refers to creative power and understanding of life, so only women can form an oath-bond with a female cat.) Theme: Even the most ordinary person has the power to change the world.
