Spring Hidden in the Brocade Hall

In the warmth of early spring, a young clerk named Mu Jintang arrived at the Kaifeng Prefectural Office.

He was fair and handsome, with a pleasant voice, and immediately became the favorite young man of the neighborhood aunties.

No one knew that behind his smiling eyes lay three secrets:

First, he'd gotten in through connections and hadn't passed the exam.

Second, his identity was fake. He was actually a daughter from a humble family in the capital region, named Mu Jintang.

Third, her elder brother had gone missing, and she wanted to investigate the case of stolen payroll silver he'd last dealt with before vanishing.

She was careful to keep this hidden, especially from her colleague Zhao Yunqi, who shared her room.

But she didn't know that Zhao Yunqi, who was cold and sharp-tongued and seemed to dislike her, also had three secrets:

First, he'd gotten in through connections and hadn't passed the exam.

Second, his identity was fake. He was actually the emperor's nephew, the son of the Grand Princess, and the young Marquis Qi Yunzhao.

Third, under a secret order from the emperor, he was investigating the payroll silver theft case, which had been officially closed the year before...

He kept his guard up around his roommate Mu Jintang, until he acquired a fourth secret:

Lately, he kept dreaming that he and Mu Jintang were together in a bedchamber. He was probably, possibly, maybe into men.
