While driving through the uninhabited stretch of road near Delingha, Chen Yuwan felt that something was very, very wrong. The ancient sword in the artifact case on the passenger seat, freshly unearthed, was... moving.
Something uncanny happened. He turned his head and saw "himself" wearing heavy black iron armor, a tattered cape, and a pheasant feather bobbing on his helmet, sitting in the passenger seat and playing with the ancient sword. He looked just like a general from a period drama!
"General himself" smiled and said, "Who has summoned this general?"
Chen Yuwan wrenched the steering wheel. The car flipped onto its side in the middle of the paved road.

Things quickly spiraled out of control.
No matter what he did, a chilly breeze always seemed to follow him. When he looked back, sure enough, there was "General himself." More amusingly, a historical debate conference was discussing:
Affirmative: "Two thousand years ago, in the Great Wei, Cavalry General Chen Cifu committed treason and became a sinner whose crimes filled the annals of history."
Negative: "Two thousand years ago, in the Great Wei, Cavalry General Chen Cifu was framed by treacherous officials, wronged, and never cleared of the charges against him."
Both sides argued passionately and stuck to their positions. The affirmative side eventually cited A History of China Through the Ages, On Historiography, and The True History of China to reach its verdict: Traitor Chen Cifu's reputation is beyond saving!
Chen Yuwan looked quietly at the "Great General" sitting beside him. Oh, it really was Chen Cifu.
Chen Cifu shrugged, completely unbothered. "History books are written by people. If someone has the pen, they can write whatever they want."

The ancient tomb of Emperor Wenzhao of Great Wei was discovered, causing a sensation in academic circles. Archaeological teams with international reputations rushed to investigate, and Chen Yuwan was assigned to Gu Yinzang's team.
He'd heard the man came from an illustrious family whose lineage could be traced back to nobles and officials from a thousand years ago. Though still young, he was already leading three major international archaeological projects.
He'd also heard the man had a terrible temper and was meticulous in his work. His team members often came back from tomb excavations in tears after being scolded by him.
Chen Yuwan thought he was doomed. How had he ended up working with this terrifying man?
But... after spending time together, Chen Yuwan realized the rumors were false.

Chen Yuwan had always argued against the claim that "Cavalry General Chen Cifu of Great Wei was a notorious traitor throughout history." Unfortunately, he was outnumbered. His efforts to speak up were like an insect trying to shake a tree, and the papers he'd written in his defense had disappeared without a trace.
He asked Chen Cifu, "Look, we're in the year 20XX now, two thousand years have passed, and people still misunderstand you. Does it make you sad?"
Chen Cifu burst into laughter, the pheasant feather swaying with him. He had been only twenty when he died, full of youthful spirit. "No. Seeing the peace and prosperity of the world today makes me glad, because everyone can have enough to eat."
Chen Yuwan also asked Gu Yinzang what he thought of Chen Cifu, the most controversial figure in history.
The man contemplated the question, then looked at Chen Yuwan and said, "Two thousand years ago, I thought you were a young hero who fought for your country and its people. Two thousand years later, I still think so."
Chen Yuwan pointed at himself, confused. "Me?"
A smile danced in Gu Yinzang's eyes as he answered gently, "Yes, you."
"How can I describe all the strange and treacherous events that took place in the northwest? From then on, the dream ended in the northwest, where I now sleep forever."
