Beloved heroine x Male Lead One, Male Lead Two, Male Lead Three
Mary Sue rural fiction
A self-indulgent story written for my own enjoyment, a sweet-and-sour romance set in a bygone era.
Qingyu was reborn. If her previous life had been a novel, she might have been the cannon-fodder supporting female character.
In an eastern mountain village in the 1980s, very few girls could finish high school before getting married. She should have been proud to be the only girl from Hongqi Village to get into the county high school in 1982. But her family was poor even by the standards of this mountain village. They lived off farming, with three daughters and one son. Neither of her two older sisters had gone to school, and both had married as soon as they came of age.
What did a girl need an education for?
That was a losing investment, plain and simple.
Her parents’ refusal was exactly what she expected, but Qingyu firmly believed that knowledge could change her fate. She was determined not to let her life be confined to this tiny mountain village. To keep studying and reach a brighter future, she got engaged to Lu Chuan, her childhood sweetheart.
Lu Chuan was the village chief’s son, and he was willing to pay for her education.
But when she was in her second year of high school, just before she could take the college entrance exam, someone falsely reported her for having improper relations with men. The village chief already disapproved of her, and he sent people to make a scene at the school. The scandal was so serious that the school eventually expelled her.
After that, everything spiraled out of control. Her life seemed to fast-forward. Having dropped out of high school, she had no way to go to college. She could only head south to work in a factory, and the one she ended up in was an illegal sweatshop. After years of exhausting labor, she couldn’t afford medical treatment and died in the dormitory.
It shouldn’t have been like this. Her life shouldn’t have turned out this way.
Qingyu clutched her head. The person who reported her was the “heroine’s” older brother. The “heroine” became the second girl from Hongqi Mountain Village to get into the county high school. She studied diligently, got into college without a hitch, married after graduating, and enjoyed a happy marriage, a successful career, and a prosperous life.
How infuriatingly happy.
But she could have had a life like that too!
Heaven had taken pity on her and given her another chance. Reborn in this life, she swore she would never repeat the tragedy of her previous one! No one would ever stand in her way again! She would have a bright and brilliant future!
In the 1980s, just as private enterprise began to open up, Lu Chuan saved up enough to buy a secondhand truck. His childhood sweetheart had gotten into high school with excellent grades. She was a phoenix flying out of the mountain hollow, and he was determined to earn enough to support Qingyu through high school and college.
But when he returned from a trucking run to Shanghai, bringing the glass hair clips she had longed for, she told him that all the girls in the county wore them. He had searched every department store and bought every style of hair clip he could find.
Clutching a box full of hair clips, Lu Chuan was overwhelmed with emotion. But he couldn’t find her anywhere. His Qingyu had disappeared.
Everyone said Qingyu had wronged him.
She was so delicate that even weaving bamboo strips would cut her hands. All she wanted was to go to college, yet she had been forced to head south for factory work. She must have suffered terribly.
Content warning: The heroine has some mental health issues. She is selfish, opportunistic, jealous, and willing to seek shortcuts. Her beauty is her resilient weapon in a poor mountain village, as well as her strongest armor.

Theme: I may not be perfect, but if you love me, love all of me.
I feel like this story is very difficult. The heroine herself is already difficult enough, even if she doesn't have a strong personality and abilities, so she needs at least some luck. I thought it was a cool story when I read the text, but when I saw that the heroine was so tired and had multiple sisters to drag her down, I was also very tired.
Filial piety? It's really funny to hit a woman's filial piety. Was it you who did the job?
Spread the flowers, let the heroine start school soon!
Well, the heroine will still be in a weak position in the future, right? I can't see how she is a villain, and the heroine is also a weakling.
