One day, a friend suddenly asked me what would happen if someone who loved voices fell in love with a mute.
I said that the sounds their beloved struggled to make would be the most moving music in the world.
She said a mute's voice wouldn't sound nice.
At the time, I didn't know how to respond. All I could say was that if they truly loved each other, it wouldn't matter.
So I decided to write this.
A love story between someone who loves voices and someone who has lost the ability to speak.
"That day, the sun was just right, and he called out to me."
Slow burn, reunion, memories, one-on-one romance, short story
A note: I originally planned to write a happy ending.
I wanted to write a love story between someone who loves voices and someone who has lost the ability to speak, and show how love can overcome every obstacle.
But why does one love voices, and why did the other lose the ability to speak? I gave them a past, one that was beautiful, but whose ending wasn't.
They're both very reserved people. They don't say "I love you" lightly, and they're quick to retreat.
So much stands between them. Neither wants the other to give anything up for their sake, and neither wants to make things too hard for the other.
They're still young, but they can't see a future.
It's a barrier in their hearts.
The more they love, the more they feel they shouldn't.
So they let go.
In the end, it's a bad ending.
Like a summer downpour, damp and sticky-hot.
Theme: Love yourself, love the world
