Synopsis
[Brainpower to Get His Wife to Sleep with Him VS It Was Great, But It Got in the Way of My Grandstanding]
A flashy, stunningly beautiful bottom with outrageous talent and skill, who loves showing off (Yuchi Wei)
A ruthless, domineering top who says what he means and has an overactive imagination (Xie Yin)
1.
Yuchi Wei is a freakishly talented powerhouse. He could easily have a smooth, effortless life, but instead he likes to throw little obstacles in his own way, then turn the tide and put on one hell of a show.
"There's danger? Watch me make a comeback from the brink! How the danger got there is none of your business."
One day, he transmigrates from a fearsome crown prince's shadow guard into a modern-day pitiful nobody: bullied, blacklisted to the point of nearly leaving showbiz, and so deep in debt that he has to sell himself.
Life as a shadow guard: Protect your master and complete your mission in the dark. Hardly anyone sees you showing off, and only the crown prince and your fellow guards respect and fear you.
Life as a pitiful nobody: With the convenience of the internet, tens of thousands of people can watch you show off. They insult you, then regret it and cry, "I deserve to die!"
A show-off's dream come true!!
If living isn't about twists and turns, and becoming a show-off who leaves everyone utterly stunned, then what's the point?!
2.
Xie Yin is a ruthless, domineering man who hates his parents meddling in his life. Unfortunately, they go and send him a beautiful assistant who has sold himself.
Written as "assistant," read as "a young lover planted by his parents to spy on him."
After being caught in a scheme, Xie Yin accidentally sleeps with this little assistant. His mouth says he hates it, but his body can't get enough. It feels amazing.
He starts paying involuntary attention to the assistant, then discovers that in everyone else's eyes, the poor guy can't do anything right. His family abandoned him, netizens curse him, and even Xie Yin himself was contemptuous and rough with him at first.
And yet the little assistant carries on bravely, never complaining, always optimistic and full of hope.
Looking at the little assistant on the bed, eyes brimming with tears (from crying because it hurts and feels good), gazing at him so sweetly and obediently, soft and pitiful as he lets Xie Yin take whatever he wants...
Xie Yin's imagination runs wild: He'd already noticed that the assistant liked watching him (learning how to be a domineering protagonist). Does he really like me? I've treated him like this, and he still hasn't gotten angry.
Our overthinking king is stricken with remorse, his heart aching as if torn apart!
Xie Yin, you really deserve to die!!!
3.
Our overthinking king vows to turn over a new leaf, then finds himself going through a one-man redemption arc. He hurriedly investigates his poor assistant's background and current situation, hoping to sort everything out for him.
Where did this media outlet get those smear articles? Why is that paparazzo called "The Idiot Crown Prince Should Shut Up" targeting the poor guy?!
What are the executives at this company even doing? Why are they spreading rumors that the poor guy is lazy and unprofessional?!
Why can't we get rid of this account called "Coworkers and Bosses Over There"? Why does it keep posting pictures of the poor guy with vague, insinuating captions?!
And this, this, and this! Why is everyone targeting my wife?!
Xie Yin, who always gets his way, is determined to make those liars pay. But the more he investigates, the more things don't add up.
Staring at the information on his computer, he has a vague suspicion but is afraid he might be mistaken. He calls his own assistant's assistant and asks what his assistant, Yuchi Wei, is doing right now.
The assistant's assistant dutifully replies: "Boss, Mr. Yuchi is studying right now. He's reading male-oriented web novels and watching a short drama called The Dragon King Returns. He said he wants to study the domineering hero's spirit in depth."
Xie Yin, himself a domineering hero: ?
Forget it, never mind. I'll help my wife sort out this mess first. He must be so upset from being bullied all the time.
4.
After studying how to be a show-off today, Yuchi Wei falls asleep in bliss, expecting no one to try to stir up trouble for him. He wakes up to find the sky has fallen.
Who sued his paparazzi account?! Why have all these random accounts been taken down?! Didn't I learn hacking so they couldn't be banned?!
And what's with all these clarification posts that suddenly popped up?! It's not time for the Dragon King Returns to have its big moment yet!
Who the hell is ruining my plans?!
*
1. In his modern-day life, the bottom is a celebrity with a scandal-ridden reputation, so there are lots of showbiz plotlines.
2. There is a size difference. In ancient times, the bottom was an assassin, while the top is physically dominant. So, putting technique aside, the bottom is no match for the top in strength. He gets pinned because it feels really good, and he also plays the pitiful, sweet, obedient little guy. The bottom has the highest combat ability and intelligence in the whole story, but there is no switching or reversal.
3. Both are each other's first and only love, and the top falls first. He really does overthink everything, and he really does love the bottom. He's a little rough with his wife at first and feels terribly guilty afterward (though his wife doesn't care and is fully focused on being a show-off).
4. The characters aren't perfect. The bottom is genuinely extremely talented and picks things up quickly. He's the protagonist of a wish-fulfillment story, but he really loves stirring up trouble and sabotaging his own reputation. He doesn't feel aggrieved at all. On the contrary, he thinks fighting back from desperate situations is great fun (?).
(Just to emphasize, the bottom won't be too hard done by in the early parts when he damages his own reputation. He's so good-looking that plenty of learned gentlemen will argue his case, so lots of people will speak up for him.)
5. The bottom's wish-fulfillment storyline and the romance between the leads take up about 60% and 40% of the story, respectively. This isn't pure romance, so please let our little show-off have some fun with the plot!
The top appears a few chapters later. Let the transmigrated bottom get excited and make his plans first. The top probably shows up around chapter three or four, and once he does, they get right down to business.
Blurb already screenshotted.
