A sunny, good-natured, straight-laced bottom who doesn't understand romance x a mature, dependable top who is secretly a creepy, possessive ghost with a strong controlling streak
[Synopsis]
Pei Yun was born in Jiangcheng's slums. His dad is a drunk, his mom is a gambling addict, and his younger brother, Jiang Ruolin, is a good-for-nothing with one foot in the juvenile delinquent pipeline. Only Pei Yun doesn't fit in with his family's "tough" traditions: he got into college!
On the second day of college registration, his parents make an exception and give up smoking and drinking to see the whole family off. Pei Yun thinks happily that things are finally looking up. But before he can enjoy himself through the evening, he's forced to go to the police station to bail someone out. Jiang Ruolin punched out two of the orphanage director's son's teeth and sent him to the ICU.
Pei Yun donates blood at the hospital and watches his younger brother spend all his tuition money on compensation. His heart sinks. He considers hanging himself on the spot with a tourniquet.
The top-tier wealthy Pei family of Jiangcheng once lost a baby boy and searched for him for years without success. Eighteen years later, while handling a deliberate assault case at a hospital on behalf of a friend's child, they unexpectedly encounter a tall, slender, strikingly handsome college student. The young man keeps bowing and apologizing for his family member's terrible blunder, standing out all the more beside the other three oddballs.
Pei Yun's father gets a racing heart when he sees his face. "Oh no, this feels familiar!"
Pei Yun's mother gets a sky-high blood pressure reading when she gets the paternity test results. "Oh no, it's the bond of blood!"
Pei Yun: Why are these weird auntie and uncle staring at me? Are they going to sell my kidney? Can I still call the police? I'm waiting, and it's kind of urgent!
In his panic, he turns around and crashes straight into a man in a suit. Xi Yucheng takes off his sunglasses, revealing handsome features. He looks down at Pei Yun for three seconds, then asks a question that leaves him dumbfounded. "Do you... have a boyfriend?"
Pei Yun: "...Are there any normal people left in this world?"
The crisis is resolved, and Pei Yun somehow ends up being reunited with his birth family and returning to the Pei household.
But the Pei family also has an adopted younger brother, Pei Qi, waiting to make things difficult for him. His birth parents favor Pei Qi, and his grandfather arranges a marriage for him. Pei Yun has no choice but to follow orders and marry Xi Yucheng, the match Pei Qi doesn't want.
Pei Yun is quite satisfied with this arrangement.
He can keep going to college, and he has endless pocket money and all the desserts he can eat. It's a winner's life! Most importantly, his marriage partner is rich and quiet, with a fantastic face and body.
Apart from the fact that he often takes cold showers at night, Pei Yun understands. Rich people can have their quirks.
When Pei Qi stirs up trouble, he ignores it. When Pei Qi fights, he lies flat. When Pei Qi tries to seduce his husband, he helps out.
Out of human kindness, Pei Yun can't stand to watch and decides to bring this supposedly "torn apart" pair of star-crossed lovers together.
He resolves to do his best to play Xi Yucheng's "white moonlight," Pei Qi, and be a qualified marriage partner who takes the money and does the job without catching feelings. After working tirelessly at it, he finally drives everyone mad.
Pei Qi: "Even his toes are provoking me! Tomorrow I'm going to complain to our parents just because he stepped out of the house with his left foot first!!!"
Xi Yucheng: "Sometimes I feel pretty miserable. I work all day, come home, and my wife still thinks I'm having an affair with my brother-in-law."
Pei Yun: "This kind of wealthy family life that only exists in novels is so exciting!"
