Ji Shaochuan grew up in a single-parent family.
When he was ten, his father brought home a fifteen-year-old boy named Wen Su. From then on, Wen Su lived with them.
Ji Shaochuan's first impression of him wasn't good. Even after they moved in together, Ji Shaochuan often disliked him for no apparent reason.
Just as Ji Shaochuan began to think things were getting a little better between them, Wen Su started attending a boarding high school and could only come home a few times a month.
The two, who had never been close to begin with, grew more and more distant.
As time went by, Ji Shaochuan decided Wen Su was treating their home like a free orphanage, where he could get room and board and have his tuition paid.
Wen Su was a good student and later got into an excellent university, but he died not long afterward.
He left behind only a few letters whose meaning was unclear.
Ji Shaochuan didn't shed a single tear. He just felt it was a bit of a shame: all that money spent raising him, wasted.
He went to high school in Wen Su's hometown, hoping to learn more about him.
In the Wen family's villa, long abandoned, he discovered a few useful items.
Wen Su seemed to be looking for something. His parents had died. It was as if he had been dying and coming back to life over and over.
When Ji Shaochuan was seventeen, he died too.
He thought death meant nothing but darkness, nothing at all.
But when he opened his eyes again, he found himself standing somewhere unfamiliar. Someone told him this was the other side.
He looked up and saw someone standing not far away.
The familiar figure and face, but dressed in finery.
Looks like... he's doing pretty well?
