[Mutual healing / fake dating turned real / partners in crime / self-serving social butterfly x insecure, love-struck romantic]
“Brahma has never blessed me, but you will.”
A thorn-covered illegitimate daughter vs. an illegitimate son who plays the pig to eat the tiger
Shi Yusheng had just finished dealing with a few troublemakers who’d mouthed off at her when she turned and saw a group of people watching the show at the mouth of the alley. Leading them was Fu Jingming, with neat short hair and clean-cut, handsome features.
Unfortunately, she didn’t know him.
“Excuse me.”
Only when she got closer did she recognize the young men beside him as famous figures around campus, the privileged sons her family had repeatedly warned her not to offend.
Shi Yusheng’s fingers twitched, but she chose to walk straight past them.
Calls demanding an explanation came one after another. Shi Yusheng sat outside a convenience store, listening to the endless stream of abuse on the phone with an impassive expression. Or rather, she was used to it by now.
But she hadn’t expected Fu Jingming to come back.
He stopped in front of her with a box of bandages, looking at the scrape on the back of her hand. His voice was calm. “We’re in the same boat. I can show you a way forward.”
Shi Yusheng raised an eyebrow and stood up expressionlessly. “I never take the straight and narrow.”
“Instead of being in the same boat...” She seemed amused by him and gave a soft, mocking laugh. “I prefer being partners in crime. Interested in making a deal?”

A contract relationship, a high-stakes gamble that turns make-believe into reality.
Shi Yusheng would take a loss to help him establish himself in Hong Kong, while he would investigate the truth behind her past.
She entered the entertainment industry to allay her elders’ suspicions, so he opened an agency that served only her. She wanted to destroy everything that had nailed her to a pillar of shame, so he cleared every obstacle from her path first.
“Fu Jingming, do you know what this means?” Shi Yusheng asked with a laugh as she read the news report that had people cheering.
“It means that from now on, we’re on different sides.”
Fu Jingming stroked her face with amused interest, smiling in his eyes. “All I see are two social outcasts warming each other. Isn’t that romantic?”
“If two negatives can’t make a positive, then maybe we should keep being partners in crime.”
“Rats like us belong together.”
So wonderful, so rotten, so utterly ruined.
The first ten chapters take place at school, followed by the urban entertainment industry.
