I have a secret.

I hate my older brother, that guy named Tomie.

Not long ago, I went from being TOP 1 on the "Most Dateable Boy in School" poll to someone nobody cared about. The one who took my place was my older brother Tomie, who had just transferred to our school.

He's like an addictive drug, captivating the whole school, students and teachers alike. No one can help marveling at his beauty, and they all become his admirers, unable to tear themselves away. They adore him, love him, follow him, and want to possess him.

"Haruma, I'm so jealous you're Tomie's little brother. Getting to be this close to him must be so exciting!" said a girl who had confessed to me, clasping her hands to her face with a look of longing.

"Haha, yeah. It's so great to have such a charming older brother. I'm super proud that he's so popular!" I said with a smile, putting an arm around Tomie's shoulder. "Right, big brother?"

Tomie smiled happily. "Big brother likes Haruma, too."

Everyone envied Tomie and me.

But only I knew how close I was to going insane with jealousy.

I didn't understand. Why did I have to work out and study so hard, and carefully maintain my social image, just to earn other people's praise and affection? Tomie only had to beckon and smile, and countless people went crazy for him.

I wanted him to leave my school.

Or maybe... he should just die.

Then a riot broke out at school, and the students and teachers fought each other for Tomie's sake. Tomie died there, brutally torn into pieces by the very people who kept saying they loved him.

I was so happy. My life had returned to normal. I was finally free of that obnoxious guy, finally out from under Tomie's shadow, finally getting everyone's attention again, finally able to become the most popular person at school once more.

I happily returned home

Only to find Tomie sitting properly at the dining table.

He pouted, sounding hurt and reproachful. "Didn't Haruma say he loved big brother most? So why could you ignore big brother's pleas for help and watch them kill me, smiling so happily?"

"..."

The black-haired boy's red lips curled, his eyes shimmering as the beauty mark beneath one eye seemed about to tremble free. He was like a ghost, his pale, icy fingers stroking my cheek, carrying a decadent fragrance, like a bewitching demon tempting me to ruin.

"Does Haruma regret it? Or are you scared?"

"But it's okay. I'll forgive you, Haruma."

"Because my 'love' for Haruma is real."
