Late at night, in a rainy alley.
She staggered along the wall like a drenched swallow, her wet eyes watching him with both fear and hope, as if he were a savior sent by heaven.
By some strange impulse, Yan Zhao hailed a car for the damsel in distress, sent her on her way, and promptly forgot all about the good deed he had done anonymously.
That was the first time Yan Zhao met Qin Zhen.
The next time they met, she was the star of a banquet, at home in a world of wealth and prestige, standing beside her handsome, aristocratic fiance. She handled everything around her with ease, always wearing a polite, gentle smile.
The banquet was not over yet, but his work was nearly done. His taut nerves relaxed a little, and he was just about to find somewhere to smoke and slack off when she appeared, dressed in a black evening gown.
Her gaze was colder than the rain that night.
"This is payment for last time."
She slipped a card into his collar. Its chill pressed against his burning chest.
Yan Zhao did not understand what was happening at first.
The last time he had been treated like this was at a nightclub.
He laughed in disbelief, more irritated than amused.
"Miss Qin, my appearance fee is very high."
She raised an eyebrow and looked him up and down, reaching her conclusion just as he was about to lose patience.
"Is it? I can't tell."
Yan Zhao had never met such an arrogant ingrate. She certainly opened his eyes.
And she had him falling hard before he knew it.
He followed her every order, coming whenever she called and disappearing whenever she dismissed him.
A few months later, even his friends had caught on. One of them said bluntly, "She treats you like a dog and you love it?"
Yan Zhao: "Get lost."
I don't mind being her dog.
All I ask is that she see me once a week.
"Qin Qin, bend down and kiss me."
"Maybe look in a dictionary sometime. That character is pronounced Zhen."
"Oh..."
Yan Zhao spent half the night poring over a dictionary.
From Qin Qin to Zhen Zhen.
The male lead isn't very educated. It's a devoted puppy romance: he believes everything the heroine says without using his brain.
