Chi Guyuan picked up a dog.

After leaving his job, Chi Guyuan organized a get-together. He left early, and on his way home, noticed something strange in a dark alley.

Curiosity got the better of him, and he went inside.

As they say, curiosity killed the cat. A sudden force slammed him against the wall, leaving him in pain.

Luckily, the person in the darkness only held him there. After realizing he meant no harm, they slowly let him go.

A car drove past, its headlights briefly illuminating the alley. Chi Guyuan made out the rough shape of the person in front of him, and saw a pair of furry animal ears on top of his head.

The man with animal ears seemed to panic and vanished from sight in an instant.

He had disappeared at a decidedly inhuman speed...

Chi Guyuan: Cosplayers these days are so dedicated. He must have just come back from a convention. Even when someone walked by, he stayed in character.

After moving, Chi Guyuan ran into someone familiar. The man was exactly his type, though Chi Guyuan couldn't figure out where he'd seen him before.

The man helped him out when he was in a tricky situation. It was a stroke of luck: Chi Guyuan managed to get his contact information with no trouble at all.

A few days later, Chi Guyuan invited him to dinner to thank him. On the way, he spotted a dog and remembered the furry ears in the alley that night, so he took it home.

The next morning, he woke to find a man sleeping beside his bed.

That's right. It was the very same man who was his type and whom he'd already arranged to have dinner with.

Chi Guyuan was shocked, but also puzzled. How did he get into my house?

The other man: I'm the dog you picked up.

Chi Guyuan: ...

Chi Guyuan: ???

1. This is not a typical beastfolk story.

2. Due to the perspective, the early chapters mostly describe the human world, and beastfolk appear less often.

3. I can't give away spoilers, but it's mentioned in the tags, so I'll say this much: the beastfolk protagonist remembers when he was a dog long ago.

4. The secondary couple has a tragic ending, but they don't get much page time.
