Among the countless gods and Buddhas, there is one obscure little goddess, the heroine, who goes around shouting, “I’m going to change the world!”
Because she loves inventing things, she dismantles the Heavenly Court and gets kicked into the Immortal-Fall Pool, much to the gods’ disgust.
The gods celebrate with drums and gongs, making a huge spectacle of it.
The Ghost King, the hero, appears in red. With a wave of his hand, he sends the gods scattering in every direction. “Ingrates. All of you, shut up.”
A demolition fiend banished to the mortal realm VS a Ghost King who just wants to fall in love
Female alpha, male omega. A classic case of opposites attracting.
Qing Lan descends to the mortal realm to solve cases and earn merit to repay her debts. While investigating the disappearance of handsome young men and a kingdom of gluttons, she gradually discovers that the man who treated her like a daughter and whom she called “Jun Wu” is actually a hypocrite consumed by a thirst for power. To secure his position, he is willing to sacrifice all living beings.
At last, she summons purple lightning to strike Jun Wu.
But the ordeal is not over. When the lightning falls, she suffers a backlash, and her body is completely destroyed. Luckily, a wisp of her soul remains. It is given a new body made from lotus roots, and she gets to start over.
The Ghost King bathes the world in blood and is ruthless to everyone but her. Their bond from a past life remains unfinished, so in this life he has come for her alone. She once received word that he had died in the mortal realm. With enemy forces at the gates and a great battle about to begin, he blew himself up, all because of the woman he loved... He does not covet power or scheme for profit. What he has always wanted is simple: to spend his life with the one he loves.
So in this life, he is willing to give up everything.
Scene One:
Qing Lan swims like a little goldfish through the exquisite miniature world the Ghost King built for her. She slowly swims to the surface and spits out a stream of water, then gazes blankly at the handsome man before her, as perfectly sculpted as jade.
“Why are you so good to me? You built me a pretty palace, sewed me beautiful clothes, and even made me delicious food.”
Feng Nong is bent over his embroidery, the corners of his lips lifting slightly. Moonlight seems to envelop him, and his eyes and brows are full of tenderness.
At her words, he gets up and comes to her side, gently tapping her on the head. “Because you’re you... because I like you!”
Scene Two:
Qing Lan clambers into a little black pot. “You won’t let me go out and play! I’m going to get mad, and there’ll be serious consequences! I’m going to stew myself!”
Feng Nong glances at her, noncommittal. “You haven’t even lit the fire. Lotus root and pork rib stew tastes pretty good. Remember to add plenty of broth for yourself.”
“You...”
“I haven’t had lotus root in ages. Sweet-and-sour lotus root slices, spicy crispy lotus root, and osmanthus sticky rice lotus root all taste great!”
The Ghost King runs a pale jade hand lightly over his lips, swallows unconsciously, and gazes hungrily at Qing Lan, who is lying in the little pot and throwing a tantrum.
Qing Lan is so flustered her legs tremble. “You... You’ve looked after me for so long, and all this time you’ve been planning to eat me! Boohoo...”
“Of course! I’ve wanted to eat you for ages.” Not that kind of eating!
Scene Three:
“Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey!”
Qing Lan angrily swims to the surface, spitting out stream after stream of water.
She lets out a long sigh. “I’m so bored, so bored!” She floats on her back, looking utterly disillusioned with life.
Feng Nong lowers his sultry eyes and ponders for a moment. “How about I play a game with you?”
Qing Lan perks right up, her eyes shining. “What game?”
Feng Nong: “How about falling in love?”
Qing Lan: “Yeah, right...”
Author’s note: The heroine is a little weak at first, but she’ll learn to stand on her own later. The sweeter Feng Nong gets, the more doomed Jun Wu is. The whole novel is already written, and updates are regular, so feel free to follow along.
Theme: Even an ant can shake a great tree. So what if it’s a futile struggle?
