What a Coincidence, I'm a Demon Lord Too

Bai Yingqing was an utterly ordinary member of the Three Thousand Worlds. She had a small courtyard where she grew flowers and plants, a cat and a dog, and a gentle, lazy husband who couldn't even kill a chicken.

She was perfectly happy with her life and had no intention of changing it.

Until one day, she found strange traces around her home, looking an awful lot like human blood and severed limbs.

Bai Yingqing thought she must have mistaken what she saw, until she watched her dog dig a human head out of the ground.

“...”

After standing frozen for a long time, Bai Yingqing buried the body with trembling hands, then went home as if nothing had happened.

Her husband stood at the door with a plate of food, gently calling her in for dinner.

Bai Yingqing smiled brightly, ran over to him happily, and wrapped her arms around his waist, acting spoiled.

Life went on, ordinary and warm.

It was just that more and more unwelcome guests came calling at their little courtyard.

Moonlight flowed like water, and shadows swayed among the trees. Bai Yingqing stood in the woods, watching her husband bring his blade down and cleanly chop off an intruder's head.

The leader, blood at the corner of his mouth, cried out bitterly, “Demon Venerable, you deserve to die!” Then he breathed his last.

Her husband stood tall and elegant. He slowly turned around, his hem as clean as ever, without a trace of blood, his expression as gentle as always.

“Wife, you saw all that?”

Bai Yingqing swallowed. Just as she was about to move, the sound of figures cutting through the air came from behind her. Several black-clad figures knelt before her and called out respectfully,

“We beg Your Excellency to return to the palace and take charge!”

Meeting her husband's thoughtful gaze, Bai Yingqing gave an awkward laugh, kicked the corpse at her feet aside, then opened her hands and slowly wiped the blood splashed across her palms.

“What a coincidence, dear husband.”

“...I'm a Demon Venerable too.”
