Online novelist Sodeki successfully finishes and submits a manuscript after three weeks in seclusion. On her way home, she nearly calls the police after being startled by a strange hooded man standing outside the neighbor's door.
Sodeki brushes past him, catching only a glimpse of pink hair beneath the hood.
The sunny, cheerful, kind boy next door suddenly changes personality. He grows quiet and gloomy, has a few new scars on his face, and is always skipping school.
One day, Sodeki catches the boy again in one of Tokyo's less reputable areas, cornered by a few guys who clearly don't look like decent people. Yuzuki is both horrified and heartbroken.
What on earth is wrong with this world? Are gentle boys destined to turn evil?
Sodeki steps in and drags the wayward boy away, then calls his grandfather. The short-tempered old man flies into a rage as soon as he hears the boy's name:
"Yuzuki, have you seen Yuji in Tokyo? I can't figure out what that kid's been thinking lately!"
And just like that, Sodeki goes from a kind neighbor to a kind landlord.
