After finishing the mission, Giyu Tomioka heard a familiar voice on his way back.
He turned around. The woman before him was thin, her face covered by a light veil that revealed only her pale lips and delicate chin.
Was this the person he was looking for? He couldn't be sure, and stared at the unfamiliar veil.
Suddenly, a gust of wind lifted one corner of the veil, and Giyu saw her pale face.
It was her. He knew at once, and realized that Haru
could no longer see.
Without hesitation, Giyu grabbed Haru by the wrist and decided to take her with him.
Haru adjusted fairly well to her new life. She wasn't as bright and carefree as before, ordering him around and telling him to do this or that, but things were good this way, too.
She liked to make casual, pointed remarks like, "The tea's gone cold," "My shoulders are a little sore," or "My hair's come loose." So he made her tea, rubbed her shoulders, and tied up her hair just as he always had.
For Giyu, these were things he'd done many times before. Back then, he and Sabito had done them together. Now he was alone.
Just when he thought they would go on living like this forever, Giyu discovered that Shinazugawa, with whom he'd been hoping to become closer friends, had already been visiting his estate frequently.
