Legend has it that nine-tailed foxes are great demons from antiquity. For an ordinary fox demon to cultivate into a nine-tailed fox, they must train for thousands of years and endure thousands of tribulations, such as climbing a mountain of blades, plunging into a sea of fire, weathering a trial of love, and crossing the sea border...
But for Luo Shao, a fox demon who had already cultivated an eighth tail, all that was just scare talk.
In truth, he simply ate and drank as usual every day. He'd only spent a little more time cultivating than the other foxes, and before he knew it, he'd grown his eighth tail.
However, he had been stuck at eight tails for several hundred years. For the first few hundred years, his cultivation had advanced like lightning. With no other choice, Luo Shao left the mountains to seek the way to immortality, and, against all odds, actually found a deity.
The deity told him they could help Luo Shao ascend to the ranks of the immortals, but they had one condition.
Everyone knew the cultivation world was divided into three realms: the Human Realm, the Demon Realm, and the Divine Realm. But few knew there had once been a fourth realm. Almost no one knew what it was called, because thousands of years ago, a crazed deity entered cultivation deviation and dragged that fourth realm into a seal along with them.
The deity's task for Luo Shao was to rescue the fourth realm.
This deity had sealed themself away for thousands of years. They had lost nearly all the joy and sorrow they'd possessed in life, becoming almost like a lifeless object. That was why they had never tried to break the seal in all that time.
To make the deity break the seal of their own accord, Luo Shao would have to help them recover their emotions, then dispel the influence of their inner demons and prevent them from going berserk again due to cultivation deviation.
The deity told Luo Shao that after sending him into the deity's seal, they would enter the deity's sea of consciousness. Because of the cultivation deviation, the sea of consciousness had fallen apart and formed a collection of small worlds. Luo Shao only needed to awaken the deity's emotions in each of those worlds to complete the mission.
To complete the task, the deity seemed to have recruited people of all kinds of races to try. Whoever finished the mission first would have their wish granted. Luo Shao thought this was a once-in-a-millennium opportunity, and even if he failed, he had nothing to lose, so he agreed at once.
But once he was truly sent into one of the small worlds, he discovered...
