Lin Ranshu looked at the man before him. The man gently took his hand and said in a low voice, "I'll stay with you."

The haunting was connected in countless ways to Lin Ranshu's late grandmother. The deeper he investigated, the less he wanted to face the truth: the truth that could destroy everything he had.

Four bone nails made from human bones; spirit tablets bearing unfamiliar names, hidden inside clay Buddhas; yellow paper revealing a second story only after being burned. And memories of Lin Ranshu's forgotten childhood began to ripple through his dreams. He reached into the mist of uncanny events, but the hand he grasped belonged to another man.

Unease and eeriness coiled around Lin Ranshu's neck like a venomous serpent, but his growingly ambiguous feelings for Gao Huai let him briefly escape his fear.

On a hazy, rain-soaked night, they gazed at one another and shared a kiss that ended as soon as it began. Lin Ranshu thought that once everything had settled, he would have an honest talk with Gao Huai about their secret feelings... But when the scheme of "borrowing yin" was exposed, Lin Ranshu learned that what he possessed had originally belonged to someone else: the man who kept appearing in his dreams, yet whose face he could never make out.

With the mystery about to be solved, a chilling wind swept through the mountain temple.

Lin Ranshu clutched an old photograph sent from home. It showed an unfamiliar man posing with a family.

"You can see me?" Gao Huai asked with a faint smile.

A drop of cold sweat trembled on Lin Ranshu's chin. He was too terrified to utter a reply. Clutching the old photo, he fled toward the temple gate without looking back

The man behind him seized him firmly. His cold hand caressed Lin Ranshu's cheek, and in the most familiar voice, he said, "There's no reason not to return what you've borrowed."

"Don't you agree, Shushu?"

A note of caution: All place names, characters, and plot details in this story are made up. The protagonist is not perfect, and everyone has their flaws. This is just a melodramatic story with supernatural chaos and strange spirits mixed in. The writing is average, the plot is cliched and has some plot holes. "Want one?"

"Thanks, but you can have it. I don't like peaches," Bai Xingyuan said with a smile as he fled and wandered.

He had tasted something far sweeter and more delicious than any fruit: the flavor of other people's love, hatred, and desire for him, all mixed together.

So Bai Xingyuan had to run as far as he could to have even the slightest chance of survival beneath those people's overwhelming fury and crazed vengeance.

A note of caution:

1. The protagonist is handsome. Each small world has one destined love interest, while the other characters feel varying degrees of affection for him (underline), though the plot may also turn fans into haters.

2. All the episodic stories are melodramatic and cliched. The basic cycle is: he loves him, he betrays him, he runs away, and the other chases him, with forced situations and other such plot elements.

3. The love interest is not a split fragment of another character. The worldlines will converge in the final world, and the ending is tentatively open.
