Bella realized early on that there was something wrong with this world.

Vampire bats, monsters in Metropolis, visitors from Paradise Island, a tin can in New York, an alien god with a hammer, government-made soldiers...

But none of it had anything to do with her, because she was just a passerby. She wouldn't even get her own special shot of being rescued by a superhero.

Bella was actually quite happy about that, because those supervillains wouldn't notice her either.

Then she happened to pass by Batman tying the Flash to a vehicle, and the universe headed toward destruction beneath a sea of red bats.

For the first time, Bella wanted to call for Superman, but it was already too late. She could only close her eyes and swear that in her next life, she would never be a nobody again.

"Congratulations, dear Miss Bella! The DC Universe is having a special offer for its latest reboot season. Click now to receive a beginner's gift pack. Would you like to make a pact with me and become a superhero who saves the world?"

It's over, Bella thought with the last of her strength. She still hadn't escaped Gotham's curse. She'd become a lunatic.

"Are you trying to save the world or save vigilantes?" After being called on to rescue a damsel in distress for the third time, Bella finally demanded an answer.

But the System was even more self-righteous than she was. "It's not like I was the one who merged with the Speed Force after my family was destroyed. Type 1 and I'll send you to the Batcave."
