A free story with mild horror and fantasy.
In the first year of the Tianshou reign, a tomb robber opened an unmarked coffin and found an old booklet. Its writing was blurred and clumsy, like a children's book.
"On the eighth day of the second month of the sixth year of Yongjia, weddings are ill-omened."
"I was married and went through the wedding rites, but was nailed inside a coffin and died. Before the seventh day had passed, I became a ghost out of resentment and slaughtered more than three hundred wicked people."
"That night, blood-red light stretched everywhere. Cui Fengyi's Taoist robe billowed in the wind as he walked out beneath the cold moonlight. His jade-like face was still, showing neither grief nor joy. With a long finger, he raised a talisman and trapped me inside a cage."
"By the end of that spring, I had become Cui Fengyi's 'ghost spirit artifact.' I followed him as he subdued evil spirits, traveling across a broken land. I witnessed the sorrows of humankind and the flourishing of plants and trees... and tasted all the finest things in the world."
"In the winter of the ninth year of Yongjia, he was hazy with drink and murmured that his childhood name was 'A-Man.' I leaned close to his ear and whispered those two syllables ten times. He silenced my chatter with his lips."
"Cui Fengyi actually dared to kiss me! That wicked, heretical stinking Taoist!"
"..."
"In the autumn of the tenth year of Yongjia, I insisted on flying a kite in the middle of the night. Cui Fengyi agreed. As the kite rose, I possessed it while his back was turned. From the sky, I watched him go from helpless to confused to anxious, and secretly laughed."
"That night, I was punished by being allowed to absorb only one bowl of incense offerings. I hate Cui Fengyi!"
"Cui Fengyi made incense that smelled like five-flavor jerky for me, so I magnanimously forgave him."
"In the summer of the eleventh year of Yongjia, Cui Fengyi said he would stop cultivating the Dao and give up on becoming an immortal. He wanted to marry me."
"..."
"In the winter of the thirteenth year of Yongjia, people from Fengdu came to take him away. I chased him to the road to the Yellow Springs and grabbed his sleeve."
"He turned to look at me, his eyes cold, and ran a sword through my soul."
"So he killed me to become an immortal."
The tomb robber read this far, his face blanching in terror. He cried out that ghosts and gods truly existed in this world, then hurriedly turned the page. Only a few words, written with force, remained.
