Three years ago, after a one-night stand, Gin had been down on his luck. But the very next day, with no warning at all, he returned to Japan and fought his way to the top. Many said that Gin had met a "benefactor" in America.
Only Vermouth knew that Gin had actually met a lover who brought him good fortune.

"There's a new recruit in the Organization who's making quite a splash. Codename: Rye."
"Gin, I heard he's a long-haired guy, just like you."
"Apparently, Akemi Miyano brought him in."
"Tch. Using a woman to get his foot in the door."
Plenty of people had brought up this newly promoted member to Gin, their curiosity and tentative probing betraying their interest in his opinion. Gin hadn't paid it any mind, until he happened to see him.
Him?!
How could it be him?
The story began with an encounter that was anything but beautiful. A few years earlier, that man had sent Gin to America on a mission.
Several old-timers in the Organization had been gaining influence lately. Even the Boss had to handle his young subordinate coldly to appease them. The mission was just a pretext: in truth, it was a major demotion. Gin had been sent across the ocean to America, far from the Organization's political center. By the time he returned, everything would have changed.
A month into his stay, Gin was feeling rather miserable. At Vermouth's invitation, he went to a bar in a small North American town. Vermouth asked him what he planned to do. He said nothing. They drank one glass after another, until a man stumbled into his arms.
The man was dead drunk, apparently down on his luck too. When he looked up at Gin, his hazy eyes gleamed with curiosity. He ignored Gin's warnings and recklessly kept flirting with him. Perhaps he was looking for an outlet, so Gin hauled him off to a nearby hotel room.
They spent the night together, and the man was very much to Gin's taste. When Gin left, he tucked a stack of cash under the bedside table.
When Akai woke up, the room was already empty. He'd blacked out the night before and couldn't remember which energetic man he'd picked up. All that reminded him of what had happened was his hangover and his damn body's reaction. He stared at the stack of dollars on the bedside table, lost in thought.
A minute later, he snatched up the cash and swore he would put out an all-American "wanted" notice for the man who'd slept with him and treated him like a prostitute.
He'd put a sack over the bastard's head and drag him into an alley to beat him up.
An older-man romance.
The story is an alternate universe, and Akai Shuichi has no family.
I just love a little melodrama.
The title and blurb are both still undecided. I picked the title simply because the first drink I ever had at a bar was a whiskey sour. I started this on a whim, and I'm hopeless at coming up with names, so give me some time to think it over.
Note from 26.1.26
The title has been changed. It's taken from the song "Super Psycho Love."
