Bai Youtan was born a black tiger into the White Tiger clan, descendants of divine beasts. The entire Yaxuan Continent saw him as an evil omen, so his family cast him out. After years of wandering, he became a dark mercenary. Desperate for affection and security, he traveled across the continent on missions for bounties, buying countless dens along the way.

Then Jiang Zhu, who had transmigrated, fell from the sky and landed on the great black tiger. From then on, Bai Youtan couldn't get rid of him.

During their adventures, Jiang Zhu saw through Bai Youtan's cool exterior to the soft heart beneath. He teased and pampered him, and when the tiger failed to catch on, he took matters into his own hands and trained him, wrapping the affection-starved big cat completely around his finger.

Jiang Zhu earns money with his paintbrush, and the two enjoy sweet adventures along the way. In the end, the slow-witted black tiger is tamed by the chatterbox, and together they break the continent's prejudice.

Suddenly, in the blink of an eye, the great black tiger beside Jiang Zhu turned into a tall, imposing, completely naked man.

Jiang Zhu dropped his snacks in fright and hurriedly covered his eyes, shouting, "Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap! How can a tiger turn into a person? I mustn't look, I mustn't look! Brother, hurry up and put some clothes on."

Bai Youtan raised an eyebrow. He moved aside the clothes he'd burst out of when he transformed, picked up his storage bracelet, took out a fresh outfit, and began getting dressed at a leisurely pace.

[First Kiss]

"Brother Tan... how did it feel?" Jiang Zhu's heart pounded, and there was a rare note of nervousness in his voice.

Bai Youtan's Adam's apple bobbed. His fingertips unconsciously brushed his lips, and he sounded puzzled, as if only just realizing it: "Just now... it felt really good."

Jiang Zhu didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "What do you mean, it felt good? How can a tiger be this clueless?"

Well, a big black tiger is bound to be a little slow. Whatever, never mind.

Bai Youtan mocked himself. "Do you know why I'm called Youtan?"

Jiang Zhu's heart skipped a beat. He instinctively shook his head.

"The Abyss is the source of evil on the Yaxuan Continent. Youtan is a flower that grows in its depths, a symbol of death that lasts but an instant. I'm the evil omen of the White Tiger clan. My people hoped I'd die overnight."

"The Youtan flower in the Abyss spends its brief, brilliant life blooming in the darkness. Brother Tan, you should cross the world's three thousand splendors with the darkness at your side."

Bai Youtan stood there, stunned, as tears slid down his face.

Jiang Zhu's heart ached for him. "Silly tiger, come here. Let me hold you."

[Drinking]

Jiang Zhu gave Bai Youtan, whom he'd gotten drunk, a mischievous grin. "Brother Tan, come here. Turn into a kitty and let me pet you."

The man who was always expressionless around others now looked helplessly at Jiang Zhu. "I'm a tiger, not a cat." Before he could finish speaking, his body transformed against his will into a huge, pure-black tiger.

Jiang Zhu excitedly pounced on the big cat, buried his face in its black fur, and took a deep breath.

The Yaxuan Continent is home to both humans and beastfolk. It has many fictional-world details, including the worldbuilding, ages, and spiritual power, all of which are explained in the story.

The two travel the continent on adventures, and every incident serves the main plot. Their feelings develop gradually as the story unfolds. They meet all kinds of people along the way, and there are stories about supporting characters, including human gray-rabbit siblings, an orchid mantis murder, a pair of beastfolk from opposite ends of the food chain, and two human-beastfolk couples. All of this serves the main plot and builds my world. The story's logic isn't childish, so dig in.
