A Wife's Punishment

He Hanyu is the daughter of the Lujiang He clan, raised in the countryside for certain reasons.

She can't read, speaks crudely, and beat up both her husband and his second elder brother as soon as she married into the Lu family. She became the laughingstock of the entire city of Jiankang.

People looked down on her. Only her husband, Lu Zhun, stood up for her at every turn and treated her well.

So even though she wasn't fond of his pretty-boy looks, deep down she thought marrying him wasn't so bad, and fell for him.

Before long, she learned that she was the punishment for Lu Zhun's defeat in a power struggle.

He was just like those other people: he thought her vulgar and despised her lowly status. He had only been good to her because he wanted to use her.

He Hanyu slapped him.

Everything before this was her being blind!

Lu Zhun was born into nobility and renowned throughout the land for his looks.

When Luodu fell, the noble clans each backed a member of the imperial family. He used every underhanded scheme he could to put Liu Jin on the throne, but in the end, he was outmaneuvered, and someone else became emperor.

The new emperor punished him by using marriage to chip away at his dignity.

Lu Zhun didn't care.

That is, until he realized that Hanyu had stayed by his side all along for the sake of another man. Her heart belonged to someone else, and he was one step too late. He fell into the abyss and couldn't pull himself out.

Only then did he understand that this really was a punishment.

This is what I'll write next. It's a romance-focused writing exercise, around a hundred thousand words, and will be completed. To keep the updates steady, I've decided to finish writing it before posting, so it may be a long wait~
