A volleyball dummy and another volleyball genius fall in love.
So this story could also be called: Even a hot-blooded dummy can have a springtime romance!
Oikawa Tooru has an unusual junior.
When someone hands him a love letter, he thinks it’s a declaration of war.
When someone asks him to meet after school, he thinks it’s a combat alert.
And his dummy junior? He turns around to find him already at full battle readiness.
Oikawa Tooru: “...” Seriously, does he have not a single romantic bone in his body?
But after a while, watching this guy with a head full of volleyball, Oikawa finds himself feeling something unexpected.
Still... he, too, comes away defeated.
At last, he gives up hoping that the dummy will figure things out someday. Instead, he devotes himself to being the one and only senior by his side, moving forward together with him.
They defeat Shiratorizawa, towering like a mountain. They take the stage at the national tournament together, and cheer with delight over yet another victory...
This is great, Oikawa Tooru thinks. It feels like I can keep walking by his side forever.

Miyano Gen is an unusual middle schooler. He has a handsome face and extraordinary volleyball talent, but an astonishingly poor ability to read other people's feelings.
He’s the sort who ruins things when others take the stage and trips people up when they’re riding high, the kind of person people online would complain about: “The worst kind is someone who’s both dumb and hardworking.”
So he stays optimistic, believing in himself and ignoring other people, successfully dodging one crush after another on the road to growing up.
Romance? Not even a dog would bother! It would only slow down my jumps!
So even when he senses the faintest hint of affection for his senior, he hides away like a snail. After all, his senior could never like him.
Then his senior confesses to him, and, on a brainless impulse, he gives the same response he’s used to reject people before: “If you don’t want to be friends with me anymore, Senior, then we’ll be enemies from now on.”
His senior: “...?”
Oh no. It looks like his romance ended before it even began.
Theme: There will always be someone walking alongside you on the road ahead.
