The Fallen Female General Who Inherited Her Brother's Legacy

An investigator came to my door and asked, "Dear Sir, a male insect, your neighbor XXX is dead. We suspect you are the murderer."

I held back my grief and asked, "What evidence do you have to suspect I killed him?"

The investigator said, "Your friend's will states that all his property goes to you after his death, including his female consort. His younger brother accuses you of killing him for his money. He says his older brother was a male insect who loved money more than life, and wouldn't have written a will."

I can swear on my life that my friend was the best male insect I had ever met.

He was gentle and kind. Even though I had poor aptitude and a low rank, he never looked down on me, and always brought me along to have fun.

My neighbor was perfect.

Except for two things...

First, he was a jinx on his wives. He had married five female insects in a row, and inherited their property after they died.

Second, he and his wife had been married for years but had never managed to have a baby insect.

He had many insect friends.

I was his only best insect friend. I was so touched that I swore to be his friend for life.

Since I inherited XX's estate, XX's younger brother has kept harassing me. We've faced each other in court several times, and it has never been resolved. It's made me sick with frustration.

A few years later, a friend who knew me saw my first female-insect child and happily said, "Your son looks just like you."

But he isn't my son. He's XX's son.
