[Sickly Slacker Transmigrates into a Book] [Hardworking, Powerful Top]
Ji Zehuai was a born slacker. He transmigrated into a book as a frail, disposable censor.
Unfortunately, he arrived at the worst possible moment. The original owner had just finished reading the last word of an impeachment memorial, and its target was none other than the tireless, all-powerful regent Lu Tingzhi.
...Oh no, my head! My entire clan!
Just as he expected, he was sent back to start over. The price was being bound to a System: he had to complete a mission to bring peace to the realm if he wanted to stay alive.
Ji Zehuai wanted to cry but had no tears. He had no choice but to work with Lu Tingzhi, the man he had impeached that very morning.
He thought he could finally catch his breath, but before long, he blundered into a huge trap: Lu Tingzhi's condition was that the two of them get married!
Ji Zehuai: What do you mean I'm marrying the man I impeached?
He looked up at the other man's face, and as a shameless admirer of good looks, Ji Zehuai hesitated.
Never mind. They had to work together anyway.
After that, he dragged his doubly debuffed, sickly body through the work of faithfully assisting the young emperor alongside Lu Tingzhi. But they never expected the young emperor to be such a hopeless mess, impossible to set straight.
The young emperor embarked on lavish construction projects to build a palace for his cultivation, and Ji Zehuai fainted.
The young emperor favored his maternal relatives and had loyal ministers killed, and blood gushed from Ji Zehuai's nose.
Later, with a flood on the way and the story's plot in his hands, Ji Zehuai decided to change the fate of tens of thousands of people who were meant to drown. He set out to control the waters, only to discover that the young emperor had caused this tragedy too.
As rain poured down, Ji Zehuai burned with fever. He drew his sword and cut down those blocking his path, then stood in a muddy pool of water. "Obey the imperial decree or open the floodgates. You decide."
The officials went trembling off to open the floodgates, clutching their necks, while Ji Zehuai felt nothing but exhaustion.
Why is my life tied to this hopeless mess!!!
The night rain howled. His fever would not break, and he lay weakly on the bed. As his consciousness slipped away, someone carried him into a cool yet familiar embrace.
Lu Tingzhi gently stroked his back. He did not reproach him for disobeying the emperor's decree, but merely soothed him: "Don't be afraid."
Ji Zehuai's eyelids felt heavy, but he forced them open to look at him. His voice was faint. "You should become emperor, all right?"
Lu Tingzhi replied in a low, measured voice, each word clear: "Mm. Then will you be my empress?"
Ji Zehuai's sluggish mind turned the question over. Huh?
Aren't you a loyal subject?
*
For three generations, the Lu family had been loyal ministers. His father died in battle, leaving behind only a letter: May the realm know peace for ten thousand miles, and may its mountains and rivers remain safe. Lu Tingzhi remembered those words day and night, never daring to forget them.
Now, he brushed Ji Zehuai's sweat-damp hair from his brow. The amulet he had prayed for was burning against his chest.
With reverent care, he placed it in Ji Zehuai's palm, its red cord winding inch by inch around his fingers.
May you be safe and at peace.
Why should he not do what no one else could? He would have both peace throughout the realm and safety for the person before him.

Seriously looking forward to the next one! Frosted Tomatoes Who the hell are you! So deliciously written
I like being sick🥹 Waiting for the teacher to open the next book
I finished reading it very slowly. In fact, it is hard to imagine this author's first book. I personally feel that the writing is quite good. It is a common problem with short classical prose. The pace is relatively fast. Sometimes if you read it wrongly, you have to go back and read it again, otherwise you will not be able to keep up with the rhythm. But the writing is really good. One of my favorite scenes is the scene where Lu Tingzhi puts the golden bell on Mingsong. It is so delicious. Who the hell are you, Frosted Tomato? Why are there so many clips that I love, including some plays, and in the middle and back, basically every time Lu Tingzhi will directly call out the character Mingsong. In fact, I have always felt that the ancient Chinese calligraphy has a special and unique intimate sticky feeling, which is very good. Some other minor problems are of the type where flaws are not concealed. The sense of weakness is quite good, and the character design is okay. It deserves a 9.5 Rating. I look forward to the author's next book.
