The Straight Beta Who Cries at Everything [GB]

Hua Wanjing is an unpredictable person. She can save people, and she can kill them.

The first time she met Jiao Yu, the child was covered in injuries, stubbornly refusing to fall, while a group of people lay nearby, their lives uncertain.

Seeing the look in his eyes, like a wolf cub's, Hua Wanjing took pity on him and brought him home to treat his wounds.

Then she caught him sobbing uncontrollably under the covers in the middle of the night.

Hua Wanjing: "..."

Who said you couldn't see ghosts at the border? She'd just seen one.

-

The second time they met was on the front line of a war zone. She saw him nearly get knocked out from behind, only to dodge at the last second and turn the tables.

From across the short distance between them, the child looked at her with less interest than he showed the scattered strategic supplies.

Hua Wanjing understood: this kid had no gratitude in him.

-

In the middle of a rainy night, the child, covered in blood, knocked on the door of her clinic. It was the third time Hua Wanjing had met him.

"Doctor, please save me..."

Hua Wanjing: "Can you cook?"

"Yes."

-

Having grown up in the slums, Jiao Yu knew better than anyone how to stay alive.

The day he met Hua Wanjing, he recognized her. She was the notorious "mad doctor" of the slums.

The "mad doctor" took him away, treated him, and let him stay for the night.

-

The day he went looking for survival supplies in the war zone, he ran into the "mad doctor" again.

He should have shared some of the supplies with her, but the "mad doctor" didn't need them, and without them, he would die.

-

The day his father killed his mother, he killed his father too. He had nowhere else to go.

The "mad doctor" took him in. All he had to do was cook.

2. Written in a matter-of-fact style. Guaranteed sweet, not angsty.

Theme: Don't give up. The road is beneath your feet, and the light is ahead.
