◎ Laid-back, carefree Director of the Imperial Observatory vs. calculating Crown Princess
◎ A not-so-serious pursuit of the wife story | Light and sweet | Very happy ending
Le You was a transmigrator who ended up as the youngest daughter of the Director of the Imperial Observatory in the book.
In the Great Liang dynasty, where the study of the I Ching was revered, she had a prestigious status.
But she was determined to play the part of a lazy slacker. The shifting political tides had nothing to do with her. She only wanted to travel and enjoy life.
On one of her trips, she met a woman in distress.
The woman was breathtakingly beautiful and exceptionally talented. Having lost her memory, she had been forced to stay there.
Le You fell for her at first sight, was captivated by her looks, and doggedly pursued her until she won her heart.
Later, the capital's political landscape changed overnight. Le You's mother, the Director of the Imperial Observatory, was deposed in the succession struggle, while her well-read elder sisters became embroiled in factional infighting and were dragged into the fallout.
The good times were over!
Without a word, she faked her death and went straight back to the capital.
After purging the court, the empress decreed that Le You would become the new Director of the Imperial Observatory and serve the Crown Princess.
Le You: Hello?
By all rights, I'm supposed to be a perfectly horizontal lazy fish!
With no choice but to obey the imperial command, Le You became the Director of the Imperial Observatory, a figure second to none, despite having a completely blank look in her eyes.
The I Ching texts that made no sense to her, the divinations she couldn't perform, the scorn of the six ministries' officials...
None of that was scary.
What was scary was seeing the woman she had seduced and then abandoned at the ceremony to crown the Crown Princess.
The woman stood atop the long staircase, clad in the Crown Princess's ceremonial robes, her gaze cool and her bearing dignified.
A palace attendant reminded her, "Director, it's time to lead the officials in their bows..."
This was bad.
Was this the future empress from the book, ruthless and swift in her methods, who would kill half the court and then lead Great Liang into an age of prosperity?
She had had her way with her and then run away.
Would she even live to see tomorrow's sun?
Le You bowed with her head lowered and began silently repeating to herself: Forgetting is a virtue...
The Crown Princess looked at her, her eyes shifting slightly as her red lips parted. "Have we met?"
Le You, already planning her second fake death, didn't dare look up. "No, absolutely not!"

1. Alternate world.
2. I don't know what else people might dislike, so I'll just leave it at that.
