Sang Luo was an utterly ordinary college student. Every day, she was either slacking off or on her way to slacking off.
Then one rainy day, she stood on the roof and berated Heaven for its injustice, only to be struck dead by lightning.
When she woke up, she had appeared inside a novel called "The Monster Catcher."
She was just cannon fodder, barely even mentioned by name.
The good news: She had a System.
The bad news: The System was useless and broken.
It simply left her with one instruction: "Whoever looks like a poker-faced corpse is the villain.
Try winning them over first. I'm going to get fixed."
Sang Luo had no choice. After slacking off for so long, she was working harder than ever, and she wasn't sure she liked it.
After a long time exploring the sect, she finally set her sights on Jiang Xizhu, the greatest monster catcher under Heaven.
One look at him and she was sure he was a villain through and through. He was always wearing a cold expression and acting like he wanted nothing to do with anyone. What else could he be?
"Ha ha ha! I'm so clever. That despicable villain is such a good actor, but I saw right through him!"
So Sang Luo began openly approaching Jiang Xizhu, throwing out countless flirtatious lines, but he stayed cold as ice.
And he kept threatening to kill her.
On the outside, he was an ice-cold stone face. But even he was shocked by what he was thinking inside.
"Her hand smells so good. I wonder if it would still smell that good after she slapped me?"
Though Jiang Xizhu had seen his share of battles, while accompanying Sang Luo to the monster-catching exam, he fell into a dream conjured by a phantom monster.
He knew it was an illusion, but still made no move, because Sang Luo stood before him in a wedding dress, gazing at him with captivating tenderness.
Sang Luo even began to doubt her own charm. After becoming a junior monster catcher, she followed Jiang Xizhu down the mountain when he was sent there.
Not long after they came down from the mountain, the System returned.
The first thing it told Sang Luo was that she had pursued the wrong person. That man wasn't the villain. He was the male lead.
Sang Luo felt as if the sky had fallen. So that was why he seemed so righteous! She'd thought Jiang Xizhu was just pretending.
She turned to look at the real villain. He was staring at Sang Luo with a sinister smile.
Jiang Xifeng and Jiang Xizhu were half-brothers, but their reputations couldn't have been more different.
Wherever Jiang Xifeng went, he brought a chill with him.
"Well? Are you finally willing to look at me this time?"
Sang Luo had thought winning him over would be difficult, but during all their earlier encounters, Jiang Xifeng had already developed feelings for her.
When the System said the villain was already 90 percent fond of her and she only had to try a little harder, Sang Luo thought, "Well, why wait?"
She'd been Jiang Xizhu's little follower, and then she started sticking close to Jiang Xifeng instead.
Jiang Xizhu couldn't understand it. The girl who'd been chasing him and saying she liked him had suddenly started liking someone else?
So he began fighting for her, abandoning every trace of the pride and superiority he'd once had as Heaven's favored son.
"Sang Luo, come with me. He's not right for you."
Jiang Xizhu fought tooth and nail for her, even turning against his half-brother.
But Jiang Xifeng didn't seem willing to let her go either. "Luo Luo just said she likes me."
Then he turned the question over to Sang Luo.
Sang Luo was completely lost. She looked from one to the other, terrified of what might happen if she rejected either of them.
She wanted to go home, so of course she chose Jiang Xifeng.
That choice was what made her realize Jiang Xizhu could go crazy too.
He cornered Sang Luo like a madman. "Didn't you say you liked me? Why are you ignoring me now?"
"Luo Luo, what did I do wrong?"
"Can you keep liking me?"
