Don't Try to Brush Me Off (Working Title)

From the moment Wen Shiqian married Fu Yan and became Mrs. Fu, all kinds of financial tabloids and entertainment gossip outlets became obsessed with digging into her colorful past as an international student.

When the assistant clipped the various reports and handed them to Fu Yan, he muttered under his breath, "Isn't our Mrs. Fu a little too expensive?"

Fu Yan skimmed the reports, tossed them into a cabinet, then glanced up at his assistant with a teasing look. "If you've got the nerve, say that to her face."

The assistant immediately fell silent and fled.

A few months later, Wen Shiqian came to the company to wait for Fu Yan to finish work. By chance, she discovered the astonishing life story in the cabinet, one she herself had never known about.

Fu Yan loosened his tie as he walked to the desk, picked up her coffee, and took a couple of sips. As if nothing were amiss, he said, "Perfect timing. I need you to reimburse me for the PR costs here."

Wen Shiqian ran her fingertip along the thick stack of papers. Once she was sure Fu Yan was serious, she took the fountain pen from his breast pocket, dipped its nib in ink, and waved it over the page to bestow her calligraphy: Dream on!

When she was done, she pretended to blow the ink dry, then tucked the pen back into his collar. "No money. You can have my life instead."

Fu Yan grabbed the hand she was pulling back and looked down at her. "You're trying your tricks on me now?"

"You're not going anywhere tonight. Stay late and mark what really happened, then revise what didn't." After speaking, he took off his suit jacket and draped it over the chair. Looking down at Wen Shiqian, he said, "Let's see how many lives the money I wasted can buy you."
