The first time Wen Yanchen met Xu Yu, he was penniless, sitting on a London street and watching the sunset, when someone suddenly handed him several large-denomination pound notes.
The other person hurried off. He caught only a glimpse of a delicate profile and the dazzling sparkle of a diamond ring on the fair fingers that had handed him the money.
He had wanted to repay him, but he couldn't remember who he was.
Later, Wen Yanchen personally removed that diamond ring and held it to Xu Yu's lips. "Good boy. Keep it between your teeth until I stop."
