Wang Ying, 18, a freshman.
On her first day at university, a flowerpot fell from the sky and hit her.
When she opened her eyes, she was back in the year 2000.
The good news: She had a secure government job, so she no longer had to fight her way through civil service exams.
The bad news: She was the captain of a criminal investigation squad, and the case before her was a body dumped in a reservoir that had to be solved against the clock.
Wang Ying: Huh? Me?
But there was one more piece of news, neither good nor bad:
The blow had damaged her brain before she died. Now, whenever she touched a corpse, she traveled back to the moments before the victim was killed.
After dying alongside the victims over and over, Wang Ying finally got a clue. She was exhausted. The world could just end already.

Xu Xing was pretty sure he'd been killed because of her.
That day, he was standing beside Wang Ying and watched her fail to dodge the flowerpot, then grab him and pull him along with her.
And then,
he opened his eyes in the year 2000.
He was a new geographic forensics expert at the city criminal investigation unit.
Xu Xing: ...Me? A freshman who's 18?
To avoid giving himself away, he stayed up late every night poring over books.
His only motivation to keep living was the hope that one day he could go back and punch Wang Ying himself.
Until that day, at the city criminal investigation squad.
A beautiful policewoman rushed out of the office, shrieking at everyone she saw:
"I've been killed again! Aaaaaah!"
Xu Xing: ...?
His colleague pointed to their temple and kindly explained, "She's been a little off ever since she got hit."
Xu Xing watched her familiar little gesture and narrowed his eyes.
That's right. She really was crazy.

[Bonus Scene]
Late at night, at the city criminal investigation office.
Wang Ying gestured as she explained, "There... there's a little bit of sunlight shining straight down, and elephants are calling nearby."
Xu Xing swallowed a mouthful of instant noodles. "Direct sunlight means it's noon. If there's only a sliver of sunlight, the space is narrow. The original crime scene might be near a zoo."
"Very likely! Get online and look it up."
Their eyes shining, the two turned in unison to the screen
The blank page spun for two minutes.
