Chen Yanqing, a metaphysics master, transmigrates one day and finds himself an undocumented nobody. He carefully tells his own fortune, seizes an opportunity to enter the entertainment industry, and becomes a bottom-tier, washed-up actor. He is so bad at acting that nothing he plays feels convincing. Even after summoning his ancestor, he is told he still needs to work harder.
Chen Yanqing: ...
It’s fine. He’s doing great. When the pressure gets to him, he just kneads Little Mouse.
So cute.
Little Mouse is a tiny hamster he found by chance. It has short little legs, a soft, squishy tummy, and likes to cling to his fingers and nuzzle them.
Because Little Mouse is so well-behaved and loves sticking close to him, Chen Yanqing takes it out for a cuddle whenever he feels stressed.
Even with a pet to comfort him, he still needs to eat. With no publicity gigs and no commercial work coming his way, Chen Yanqing tries livestreaming to boost his traffic.
But a livestream from an obscure has-been gets no viewers at all. With no other choice, Chen Yanqing starts streaming his daily life with Little Mouse. He thinks this is all his life will amount to, until he connects with a fan holding a golden retriever and the whole livestream takes a turn.
Fan: Your hamster is so well-behaved, streamer. My golden retriever tries to run away as soon as I pick him up.
Little Mouse, in a tiny voice: “It says it needs to pee.”
At those sudden words, Chen Yanqing’s eyes widen in shock. “...You can talk?”
Little Mouse, dangling in his hand: ...
It silently curls up its tiny tail and legs.
Qiu Songmian is a lucky spirit rat. He looks like a hamster, but his fur shimmers with a soft golden edge. He can devour the karmic threads formed when people interfere with others’ fates, which is why he has long been hunted.
One day, after some villains track him down, Chen Yanqing saves him by chance and takes him home. That is how the livestream about a man and his pet begins.
Chen Yanqing’s hands are warm, and he handles him so gently. During livestreams, he is always sighing as he talks about people’s past and present lives, and the good deeds and sins they have accumulated.
That day, his owner is talking again, looking worried. “This person is cursed with misfortune. She’s been plagued by disasters since childhood. The beggar child she failed to save in her last life became her golden retriever in this one. It was supposed to repay her kindness and ward off calamities. How did things turn out like this...? Never mind, I can’t talk about this. Interfering with karma drains my health bar...”
At last, Qiu Songmian can’t hold back any longer.
His chance to help has finally come!!!
From that day on, their livestreams focus entirely on pet consultations. Their channel becomes a huge hit, and invitations pour in.
Qiu Songmian’s original wish to repay Chen Yanqing gradually turns into an unclear, undeniable fondness and admiration.
Chen Yanqing grows more and more popular. After consuming too many karmic threads, Qiu Songmian gains the ability to take human form. One day, while napping on Chen Yanqing’s lap, he suddenly transforms into a person.
With soft, pale golden hair, Qiu Songmian clings to the legs of the person he has been with day and night and lies across his knees. He blinks in confusion, meeting the gaze of a stunned Chen Yanqing.
Qiu Songmian: ...
Why didn’t I transform with clothes on? QAQ
P.S. 1. They are each other’s first and only love, physically and emotionally, and are devoted to one another. Both are strong characters.
2. After the gong’s transformation stabilizes, he can freely switch between animal and human forms.
3. The metaphysics research is all from the internet. There are many invented details, so please don’t scrutinize them.
