My Archrival, Whom I Hate with a Passion, Is Being Shipped with Me

Fang Xiangxiao and Duan Cheng are rivals. Fang Xiangxiao can't stand Duan Cheng's showboating, while Duan Cheng can't stand Fang Xiangxiao's phony act.

Neither can stand the sight of the other, but until now, no one else knew about it.

Then, by chance, they were both invited to an event on an island and ended up on the same flight. After running into each other outside the restroom, they traded insults and got so caught up arguing that they missed their flight together. The airport even announced their full names over the PA.

The whole airport knew they'd missed the flight together, and their bizarre ship shot straight to the top of the trending topics.

When Fang Xiangxiao got home and saw people shipping them, he nearly ground his teeth to dust. There were plenty of other celebrities going to the island, so why couldn't people understand that they'd missed the flight because they'd been arguing in the restroom and nearly come to blows?

Duan Cheng, on the other hand, was addicted to the internet and a seasoned surfer who knew all about the latest online gossip. At first, he watched people pairing them up with a faint curiosity, wincing at how wildly out of character they were. But gradually, seeing his sworn enemy, who treated him with nothing but hostility in real life, fussing over him in fanfiction gave him a strange little thrill.

He began looking at Fang Xiangxiao differently. The next time they met, Duan Cheng acted like he couldn't stand him, and Fang Xiangxiao suddenly mocked him with a line from one of the fanfics.

Duan Cheng's expression changed. He'd read that fandom-defining masterpiece ten times over and knew every line by heart. Fang Xiangxiao had quoted it exactly.

As usual, the two traded insults. When he got home, Duan Cheng pulled up that fanfic again and reread it. He spent half the night wondering, Wait, what did he mean by that?

He couldn't sleep. Not a chance.
