[A sharp-tongued, independent heroine who doesn't trust men, but is actually a romantic at heart] X [A down-on-his-luck rich boy forced to repay debts, but actually sensitive and responsible]
Zhu Miao is a 29-year-old boy-band manager, making her own way in a big city. Though highly capable, she is constantly pressured by her family and the times to get married, like an iron tree that will never bloom. Just before her 30th birthday, she meets Ye Yu, who is six years younger.
Ye Yu, 24, is a down-on-his-luck rich boy. After his family's business went bankrupt, he was saddled with the workers' unpaid wages. He left university before graduating to work and pay off the debt, laboring nonstop like a model worker. For various reasons, Zhu Miao keeps ruining his jobs whenever he's at work, and the two seem fated to keep crossing paths.
The first time they meet, Zhu Miao rides off on Ye Yu's delivery bike to protect one of her artists from a scandal. Ye Yu loses his job because she stole his bike.
Zhu Miao calls into the bakery, full of apologies: "Sorry, delivery guy inside! Can I borrow your bike? I'll bring it back later!"
Ye Yu runs outside, but the bike is already gone. "Huh? How am I supposed to make my deliveries?"
The second time they meet, Zhu Miao gets drunk at a bar and calls for a car to take her home. The driver who shows up is Ye Yu, working a part-time job.
Ye Yu rolls down the window and looks out. "Are you Ms. Zhu? Uh... it's you!"
Inside the car, Zhu Miao's stomach churns. "Ugh... blegh..."
Ye Yu loses another job...
(The first few chapters will switch between both of their points of view. If you're not used to that style, please be patient. Thank you to everyone who chose to read this story. I'll keep updating diligently. Thanks again, everyone.)
Theme: Can love overcome the expectations set beforehand? People don't have to pursue romance; careers are important too.
