Jiang Ciyou is the villainess of a novel. As the sect’s senior disciple, she is destined to grow dark and vicious out of jealousy of the heroine, eventually becoming a stepping stone for her.
As the plot forces its way forward, everyone around Jiang Ciyou starts acting strangely, as if they have split personalities.
But Jiang Ciyou has no idea. She just thinks her sect has probably gone insane.
At the Immortal Sects Tournament, her aloof and noble master says she doesn’t deserve to be champion, but privately cries and says he’s sorry to her.
Her disciple brother, born into a prestigious family, comes by every day to provoke her, then leaves behind a pile of magical artifacts and begs her to forgive him.
Her junior sister, who used to love clinging to her, cries whenever she sees Jiang Ciyou, yet still insists on following her around.
And so Jiang Ciyou becomes the vicious senior sister whom the disciples call disrespectful to her elders, cold and arrogant, and cruel to her fellow disciples.
Jiang Ciyou: …Can this sect still be saved?
The only person who seems even remotely normal is Mu Siyao, who comes from some unknown sect and became the newest champion after less than half a year of cultivation.
Rumors about Mu Siyao are flying through the cultivation world.
“She entered a secret realm!” “She found a secret treasure!” “She’s betrothed!”
Jiang Ciyou silently watches as a secret realm inheritance, pills, and magical artifacts suddenly appear out of nowhere whenever news about Mu Siyao arrives, along with…
a marriage contract…?
Once again, the legendary demon lord of destruction appears before her with a dark expression and a fierce glare.
“If you bully her again, I’ll kill you!”
Then he trips over an unknown pebble and takes a spectacular tumble.
“…”
Jiang Ciyou silently turns her head and unexpectedly runs into someone else.
Beneath the moonlight, a young man leans against the wall, his clothes stirring in the breeze. When she looks his way, his amber eyes crinkle with a smile, and he innocently explains,
“I’m just passing by.”
Jiang Ciyou really wants to believe him, if only she could ignore the pebble he’s playing with in his hand.

Shen Qingshu transmigrates into an unfamiliar era and realizes he seems to have landed a protagonist’s role.
Born into a prestigious family, he’s bold, gifted, and dazzlingly talented. He soon makes a name for himself in the world of immortal cultivation.
Only three years after becoming famous as a youth, an accident leaves his meridians crippled and his Daoist heart shattered.
On the day his spiritual veins are gravely injured, Shen Qingshu realizes he was actually cast as a cannon fodder experience pack for the protagonist.
Shen Qingshu: …Whoever wants to be cannon fodder can do it!
For ten years, he stays out of sight and leisurely watches the Heavenly Dao pave the way for that “true child of Heaven,” until he discovers another poor soul who’s been even more badly cheated.
Only then does Shen Qingshu remember that he also has a cannon-fodder fiancée who’s meant to be a stepping stone for the heroine?
Bonus Scene
When Shen Er opens the courtyard gate, he finds no one inside. Unsurprised, he bows to the empty courtyard and begins his report, every word measured.
“Miss Mu obtained an inheritance from a secret realm and some pills. As instructed by the young master, I took items of equal value from the clan and delivered them to Miss Jiang.”
“Also, there are rumors that Miss Mu is betrothed.”
No one answers from the courtyard. He continues,
“So I returned to the clan and retrieved the young master’s marriage contract with Miss Jiang. It’s now in Miss Jiang’s cave dwelling.”
There’s still not the slightest response.
Three seconds later, a rustle comes from among the branches in the courtyard.
Shen Qingshu sits on a tree branch, his hair a little messy and a stubborn cowlick sticking straight up. He speaks as if bristling with anger.
“Shen Er!!!”
“I only told you to deliver the opportunities. I never told you to bundle me up and send me along with them!”
