I Don't Want to Be Emperor Anymore

Cheng Yinian never imagined that taking on a job like usual would leave him bankrupt and deeply in debt.

Even more unexpectedly, his ex-boyfriend, whom he had broken up with years ago and sworn never to see again, showed up a few days later and casually said, "Actually, you're the emperor's illegitimate son."

"What nonsense. You know who my father is."

"Wait, I'm not finished. As far as I know, the late emperor left an illegitimate son fifty years ago. That illegitimate son was your father."

"..."

"The current emperor has only your father as a brother, and he has no children, so he plans to adopt you as his son."

"...Do you really think I'd agree?"

"You don't have to, of course, but then you'll have to pay back your debt right away." His ex-boyfriend unhurriedly took out a promissory note. "By the way, half an hour ago, I became your new creditor."

Cheng Yinian had assumed that his former boyfriend, a sinister and despicable young man who had risen to the highest ranks of government, had some ulterior motive for being so eager to drag him back to the capital.

He never expected that even though he was already halfhearted about learning to be a prince, his ex would be even more lackadaisical.

Of the ten times Cheng Yinian went to his workplace to find him, he was absent nine times. At first, he signed the documents Cheng Yinian gave him. Later, he simply stamped them with a cat's paw print.

At last, Cheng Yinian couldn't take it anymore. He climbed onto the roof and asked the cat sunbathing there, "So why did you bring me back to the capital? To have someone sunbathe with you?"
