[The King's Avatar] The Perfect Duo

Zhou Zekai had a childhood friend named Xia Mingxi. He had been secretly in love with her for years. The two of them were always in sync, and their kindergarten and middle school teachers often called them the "best partners." He finally worked up the courage to confess his feelings, but she disappeared without a trace. Zhou Zekai thought that after all those years, he would have forgotten her, until one day she burst back into his world like the sun.

Xia Mingxi never expected her blind date to be Zhou Zekai.

He had grown up quite a bit. At least, in her eyes, he was no longer the little kid who used to trail after her. He was now the renowned sharpshooter Zhou Zekai, admired by everyone. She found their reunion rather awkward.

"Um..." She hesitated, feeling a little guilty. "Have you been doing well these past few years?"

"Yeah." Zhou Zekai nodded, staring at the ice cubes in his glass. His face reflected in the water. "Pretty well. What about you? Why did you go abroad? To... America."

"What if I told you... I went to slay a dragon? Would you believe me?"

"Slay... what?" Zhou Zekai wondered if he had misheard.

"Haha, just kidding. I went to college in America, then worked there after graduating. I only recently quit and decided to come home for a visit."

Actually, Xia Mingxi had been keeping an eye on Zhou Zekai on TV all along. She only started to feel threatened when Sun Xiang appeared by his side. In the eleventh and twelfth seasons, Team Samsara won back-to-back championships, and people online raved about how amazing the two of them were, saying they had won the Best Partners Award two years running. Xia Mingxi was happy that Zhou Zekai was doing so well, but who was this Sun Xiang guy?!

We were the best partners first!

Xia Mingxi: But... but I was here first!
