Sister Separation Syndrome

A burglar broke into Zhou Songyi's home.

The thief was gentle and beautiful, accomplished and wealthy, seemingly far beyond her reach.

But what normal person would go out of their way to court her mother, a middle-aged woman?

The thief knew every little thing about their ordinary family, even Zhou Songyi's private habits. She was clearly a seasoned burglar.

To protect her mother's retirement savings, Zhou Songyi targeted and bullied the thief in every way, determined to expose her true face. But the two people at home, young and old alike, seemed bewitched, defending the thief as if she were the real daughter.

Zhou Songyi was furious. In an impulsive attempt to move the family's assets, she said she would marry her girlfriend and buy a marital home. But before her mother could say anything, the thief's eyes suddenly turned red.

After drinking, she called Zhou Songyi by a childhood nickname she had never heard before, and wept:

“It's all over... Miaomiao, my darling Miaomiao. This is the last time. Your big sister won't appear again...”

Qiu Wangjin was taciturn and inarticulate, the most inconspicuous person in her ordinary little family.

Yet her adoptive mother hated her, and after causing her adoptive mother's death, she ended up in bed with her just-turned-adult younger sister.

On a late-autumn night, Qiu Wangjin felt as if she were being consumed by a raging fire, tossed about and left utterly broken.

Back then, she thought that if she were to die, she would choose to jump into the river, into the river of time not far from her front door.

Given another chance, her darling Miaomiao would grow up happy and carefree.

But by then, she herself would be nothing more than an irrelevant onlooker.
