As a little kid, Orange Puppy showed far more energy than anyone his age. During the summer before first grade, his family took him to a nearby ice rink. Not only did he quickly learn to skate freely, he also displayed a common affliction among children his age:
If no adults are watching, they'll try anything.
The jumps other skaters performed looked so cool that he decided to try one on his very first day on the ice.
Naturally,
he took a terrible fall.
By coincidence, Yuuri and Victor, who were visiting Miyagi, witnessed the child's first jump, then saw his second and third.
Until he finally succeeded.
"He jumped so high," Yuuri exclaimed.
Victor put an arm around his beloved. "He got it on the fourth try. He's got talent."
Before Yuuri and the others left Miyagi, they saw the little ball of sunshine at the rink every day, suddenly fascinated with jumping. Sometimes they even gave a few pointers to this daring child with more confidence than skill.
"I can't believe I'm the one who doesn't want to leave," Yuuri said through gritted teeth, holding back tears before they left Miyagi.
"Then stay," Victor said with a smile, resting his chin on his hand. "Take him to the place you've been thinking of."
P.S.:
1. A crossover between Haikyu!! and Yuri!!! on Ice, and a chance to revisit my first BL pairing.
2. Contains KageHina. I really love this pair.
3. I originally wanted to write a soccer alternate universe first, but there are just too many characters I'd have to invent for the soccer team, so I've put that aside. This story won't start until 2027 either. I'll be extremely busy with real life next year, really busy (kneels).
4. A brainless, feel-good story. Please switch off your brain before reading, because the author doesn't know all that much about figure skating, either. Currently studying the technical details with great enthusiasm.
Core theme: Embrace the world.
