If there's anything worse than having your entire clan sentenced to death, it's escaping that fate only to be tricked into joining a crooked assassin organization.
On her first day at the job, Liang Jinwen was handed a contract of indenture. Her devilish boss, Gu Li, smiled faintly. “You can't leave the organization unless you're dead. If you break the contract, you'll owe us three hundred thousand taels of silver. What, you don't have that kind of money? No problem. We also offer a Jianghu-wide, one-stop assassination service. We'll hunt you from life to death, from death to cremation, and from cremation to ashes scattered in the wind.”
This crooked company thinks it can bully little old me? I'd sooner become a bandit than put up with it!
The organization issued an order: “You, go assassinate the old man next door.”
Liang Jinwen: (sneaking into the old man's home) “Someone wants you dead. Give me one tael of silver and I'll take care of it.”
The organization issued another order: “You, go assassinate that nouveau riche.”
Liang Jinwen: (sneaking into the rich man's home) “Someone wants you dead. Give me a hundred taels of silver and I'll take care of it.”
The organization issued yet another order: “You, go assassinate that high-ranking official.”
Liang Jinwen: (sneaking into the official's home) “Someone wants you dead. Give me a thousand taels of silver and I'll take care of it.”
The organization issued one more order: “You, go assassinate the princess.”
Liang Jinwen: (sneaking into the imperial palace) “Someone wants you dead. Give me ten thousand taels... Wait, Princess, you have to help me! This crooked company is planning a rebellion!”
As one of the heads of the assassin organization, Gu Li was baffled.
Ever since someone named Liang Jinwen joined, the organization's membership had plummeted, and its mission failure rate had reached unprecedented heights.
Could she... be a spy?
Liang Jinwen: (sweet) (innocent)
Impossible. Absolutely impossible!
