Could my collection count reach 300? (Already dreaming)
Princess x top scholar: female ruler x prisoner at her feet
Unruly, unhinged heroine x gentle, patient hero
A picky little fox and the red bean matcha snow-skin mooncakes she adores
The author is stockpiling the entire manuscript
The author's first wish: Please add this to your collections, lots and lots of collections. I want to make it onto the rankings smoothly.
Sorry, I've been busy graduating and job hunting these past six months, so I haven't saved up much of the manuscript. I'm writing it now, QAQ.
The year Murong Xin turned twenty, she accomplished two great things:
She seized the throne and claimed the man she loved.
She won the throne by leading her maternal clan through a bloody struggle.
As for the man, you could hardly say she stole him.
Pu Qingyan had always been meant for Murong Xin.
When she was in her teens, Murong Xin had wondered:
Whom should a subject be loyal to: the sovereign, the state, or the people?
But she didn't want to choose any of them.
Murong Xin was loyal only to herself.
But
“The only sovereign Pu Qingyan has is Murong Xin.”
“Pu Qingyan wishes to be loyal, and can only be loyal, to Murong Xin.”
1.
In the fourteenth year of Baozheng, Liang produced a handsome young man who had earned top honors in all three examinations.
Pu Qingyan was gentle in manner and handsome in appearance.
As he rode through the streets, everyone wondered:
Which young lady would receive the top scholar's ceremonial flower?
To their surprise, he wore it properly all the way through.
Only after the moon had risen and the sun had set, when the clamor had finally faded, did Pu Qingyan place the delicate velvet peony from his head into a dressing case.
The letter on the case clearly read:
[Shengzhou, for Chaоchaо's eyes only]
Almost everyone thought Pu Qingyan would begin in the Hanlin Academy, then rise step by step to become a trusted aide to the emperor.
No one expected that after serving for less than two years, the young man would cut off his own prospects, asking only to go to Shengzhou and take a humble post as its prefect.
Who could possibly be in Shengzhou?
2.
There was a heroine of the martial world in Shengzhou: Murong Xin.
Barely fifteen, she was already exceptionally skilled in martial arts.
She championed justice and punished evildoers.
Every day, people came to the Xiaoyao Pavilion to thank Murong Xin, and countless men came to ask for her hand.
A friend asked with a grin which one she wanted to choose.
Murong Xin said nothing. She only gazed at the writing brush hanging on the brush stand, its tip worn rather blunt.
Someone had lived in her heart for many years:
a big liar who had stayed in Shengzhou for just three months, then left without ever sending her a single letter.
She heard that the liar had become the top scholar.
What would it take to make the top scholar belong to her alone?
3.
At seventeen, Princess Jingzhao of Liang was sent far away to marry for peace.
She sat in her bridal sedan and left the palace gates, neither happy nor sad.
Through a gap in the curtains, she finally saw
the young man she had longed for.
He rode a white horse, a red flower pinned to him.
He was as handsome as she had imagined.
At last, they wore their wedding clothes on the same day.
But the bride he was there to welcome was not her.
Not long afterward, the realm fell into chaos, and the various lords raised armies in revolt.
When they met again,
she was the ruler of Cangning,
and he was no more than a prisoner at her feet, chained inside a splendid palace.
“Back then, you served Emperor Liang and sent me away to marry for peace. But Liang has fallen.” Murong Xin leaned close to Pu Qingyan's ear. “I am now the sovereign Magistrate Pu ought to serve.”
The author would like to make this very clear: In my setting, Cangning is a matriarchal society. It has always been ruled by women, always!!!!
There will absolutely be no ridiculous plot where two rulers govern together, or where the hero takes the throne in the end. The heroine does ascend the throne, but that happens fairly late.
But the focus really isn't on the female emperor. I'm just writing a little romance about a couple.
A few things to know before reading:
1. Happy ending. I'm writing a sweet romance, but the hero will suffer terribly from beginning to end. My preferences have really gone wild with this one.
2. The heroine is five years younger than the hero. Neither has been with anyone else, and this is strictly one-on-one.
3. Bright, bold heroine x gentle, scheming hero.
Important: The characters aren't perfect. This isn't an extremely coldhearted, power-hungry heroine. She can play the spoiled brat, act cute, be willful, and get jealous. She's a real person with real feelings. If that bothers you, proceed with caution!!!!!
4. I don't accept writing advice. She isn't an all-powerful heroine, there is no harem, no obsession with legitimate and illegitimate status, and no patriarchal authority figure.
5. The dynasty, official ranks, and institutions are all fictional. Some aspects of Cangning are inspired by the Mosuo people.
My completed historical romance, Snowy Night's Return, is in my author profile. Feel free to give it a try.
Rescue the sickly beauty and divine medium~
The Cangning in this book is the same country as in Snowy Night's Return. This book is actually the founding history of Cangning, hehehe.
The matrilineal community has endured through the ages, though its territory has grown and shrunk.
Theme: I want it, so I get it
