1v2 love triangle
Yan Yu has recently found himself caught between two choices: one is the older brother he has admired since childhood, and the other is his childhood friend, who grew up alongside him. Everything was fine until, for some reason, the two of them suddenly started fighting right in front of him.
1.
The morning sun falls across the big bed. A man lifts one corner of the covers and pulls Yan Yu out, settling him on his lap. His fingers deftly undo the buttons on Yan Yu’s pajamas. He feels the soft flesh of the young man’s cheek against his shoulder and says in a low voice:
“Get up. If you don’t open your eyes soon, you won’t get breakfast.”
Leaning against him, the boy sways drowsily as his older brother changes his clothes for him. He mumbles, “You’re so mean to me, Brother. Did the teacher criticize me at the parent-teacher meeting yesterday? Don’t listen to her.”
Jiang Nanfeng pauses. He lifts Yan Yu’s chin with a knuckle, his gaze deep and unreadable. “Yes. The teacher said you’re dating.”
“I’m not dating. I have a secret crush.” Yan Yu’s soft lips hover an inch from Jiang Nanfeng’s. Faced with the boy’s adoring gaze, he can’t bring himself to respond, so he pretends not to notice the feelings in the boy’s heart.
Once again, the good-morning kiss never comes. Yan Yu looks away in disappointment. He has long accepted that he’s no longer a child who can get a comforting kiss.
2.
The bar’s music blares through the speakers, deafening. After drawing a dare, Yan Yu shares a cross-cupped drink with Jing Feng, his best friend since childhood. The whole room cheers.
“They’re getting carried away. Let’s make an excuse to leave later and go hang out at my place, okay?” Jing Feng leans close to Yan Yu’s flushed face, his lips almost touching the young man’s earlobe.
Yan Yu shrinks his neck and shivers. “No, my brother is coming to pick me up.”
“Is he going to have time to keep an eye on you when he’s busy getting engaged?”
At the mention of the engagement, Yan Yu bites his lip, his heartbeat skipping. A sense of helplessness spreads to his fingertips, and he nods in agreement.
Sitting on the back of a motorcycle and feeling the wind rush against him, Yan Yu wraps his arms around the person in front of him. Only then does he realize that Jing Feng has been by his side for just as many years as he’s been in love with his brother.
“Watching the sea at night is romantic, don’t you think?” Sitting by the lighthouse on the beach, Yan Yu gazes into Jing Feng’s bright eyes and feels something beginning to fill the hollow in his heart.
“Forget your brother’s curfews and rules. You’re grown up now. Wherever you want to go, I can take you there.”
The sea breeze is salty. As their lips draw closer, a salty sea breeze rises in Yan Yu’s heart too.
3.
When Yan Yu wakes up in Jing Feng’s bed, no one is beside him, but he hears the sounds of a fight and shouting from the living room. He runs out barefoot and sees his usually inscrutable older brother fighting Jing Feng, every punch landing harder than the last.
“How dare you coax Xiao Yu into sleeping with you?” Jiang Nanfeng’s usually neat hair is disheveled as he lands a punch on Jing Feng’s temple.
With blood at the corner of his mouth, Jing Feng grins wickedly. “Who are you to question me? His brother? Sorry, I’m his boyfriend. Of course we sleep together!”
“Are you his boyfriend?”
Under his brother’s questioning gaze, Yan Yu curls his toes, unsure how to answer.
