A Ping is a powerless actor who accidentally crossed Cui Jixun's interests.
Cui Jixun was ruthless. For the sake of his own interests, he even planned to wipe out all of A Ping's friends and family.
In the midst of all her suffering, A Ping was rescued by Xie Wuqing.
Xie Wuqing cared for A Ping and valued her. He gave her a surname and a name, taught her to read and write, and helped her open a shop and become its owner, giving her a whole new chance at life.
A Ping had quietly loved him for a long time.
But he died.
Cui Jixun ordered him to be torn apart by five horses.
With her protector gone, A Ping was killed by Cui Jixun.
A Ping could not understand. She was powerless and had no part in political struggles, so why was he determined to wipe her out?
Cui Jixun said, "When you walk down the road, you step on a few ants. Do you feel sorry for them, or do you think you've done something wrong? They were only crawling under your feet by chance. To me, you are no different from them, lowly as an ant, unable to decide even whether you live or die."
A Ping etched his words into her mind. After her death, she was reborn as Cui Jixun's direct superior: Princess Yu Jing.
And so, Cui Jixun's daily routine at work became: kneel, get beaten, lose pay.
-
Cui Jixun could not understand why the princess, who had always been obedient, had suddenly changed her nature.
She tormented him, humiliated him, and even cleverly schemed to have him thrown in prison.
Not only that, the princess personally oversaw his punishment, lashing him again and again. When he was barely conscious, she lifted his chin with the whip. "A lowlife like you was born to be my plaything."
Cui Jixun lowered his head, bit down on her whip, and grinned through a mouthful of bloodied teeth. "Your Highness had better pray I never get out of prison, or else..."
