Airi has been having a terrible time lately.
Her parents, who had argued all her life, got divorced. Her mother said she would take her sweet, sensible little sister, and her father said he wanted the little sister too. So Airi went to live with her grandmother, holding a dog in her arms.
But the puppy was hit by a car not long afterward, and it left her too.
She said she was heartbroken, but no one believed her except her grandmother, because she hadn't cried.
She was terribly sad. To keep people from thinking the puppy had had a cruel owner, she had to find a way to cry at least once.
But none of the many things she tried worked.
By chance, she saw a girl sobbing her heart out after being rejected when she confessed her feelings. She decided that if the person she confessed to rejected her, she could finally cry.
So she set her sights on Tsukishima-senpai, famous at school for her sharp tongue and notoriously hard to win over.
With the thrilling certainty that she would be rejected, she approached and confessed: "Tsukishima-senpai, I like you so, so, so much. I want to go out with you, so please, please, please, please don't turn me down."
But Tsukishima-senpai said, "Okay. Let's go out."
No... No, that's not... How could this happen?!
Why didn't Tsukishima-senpai reject her?!
...But that's okay. Even if Tsukishima-senpai agreed to go out with her, she'd get dumped eventually and finally cry!
(Leaving out countless little things where she thought she'd get dumped, but Tsukishima-senpai chose her steadfastly every time and was so sweet she practically bubbled over~)
Eventually, she finally cried.
Not because she'd been dumped, but because she was so happy dating Tsukishima-senpai. So this is what happens when you're too happy: you cry!
She immediately apologized to Tsukishima-senpai, blaming herself for using her just so she could cry.
But Tsukishima-senpai only adjusted her glasses with her long fingers, then kissed her. "Silly. Don't cry."
Why had she agreed to date her back then?
Maybe because she'd never seen a girl confess with such a hopeless expression, like she had no tomorrow and was about to burst into tears, while saying, "I like you so much."
She couldn't bear to make her cry.
