[Faux-traditional, genuinely reserved and gentle top x brother-obsessed, mixed-race, dark-skinned puppy bottom]
Coming-of-age | Older man/younger man | Ten-year age gap | Mixed-race | Pursuing the husband
Cheng Ling made one mistake.
At eighteen, he boldly proposed, only to hear, "I hope you'll think it over. You're still young." In a fit of anger, he was tricked into going out to international waters, where he got into trouble.
Cheng Huan took a bullet for him and lay unconscious for three years. Cheng Ling became a traitor and ungrateful wretch in everyone's eyes. Who didn't mock Cheng Huan behind his back for raising such a thankless brat?
Cheng Ling fell into the hands of his archenemies and was tortured until he had no choice but to jump into the sea to save himself. But he didn't dare go to the hospital. He would only sneak down at night and squat outside, gazing up at the room with its light on.
Cheng Huan woke up.
But the child he had raised was nowhere to be seen.
Cheng Huan had picked Cheng Ling up from a fight club and carefully raised him from a child into a bright, carefree young man. But one mistake had ended up hurting Cheng Huan. When Cheng Ling came back, he didn't dare let Cheng Huan know, but he missed him so much that one night he climbed into the man's room.
One of his legs was hooked over the railing on the thirty-second floor. Under Cheng Huan's dark, threatening gaze, he didn't dare move.
"Brother... I'm back..." Knowing he'd done wrong, Cheng Ling crouched beside Cheng Huan's hospital bed, his voice trembling and his eyes red.
Cheng Huan lay in bed, almost his entire body covered in tubes. His face looked terribly haggard. Cheng Ling had never seen him like this, and the sight tore at his heart. The person he loved most was suffering like this because of him.
"Who are you calling that?" Cheng Huan's tone was flat, his gaze indifferent.
"Brother, I was wrong..." Cheng Ling knew Cheng Huan was truly angry this time and wouldn't even speak to him.
Without the Cheng family's protection, Cheng Ling could only return to his old line of work as a dockside enforcer. Just as someone was about to bring a club down on his head, Cheng Huan yanked him back, then let go.
"Why aren't you coming back already?"
But there were things Cheng Ling didn't dare let Cheng Huan find out, so he couldn't truly go home with him. Seeing this, Cheng Huan gave a cold snort and turned to leave. Cheng Ling found a new job, working during the day and taking care of Cheng Huan at night.
If you want to curry favor, you have to know how to read the room. That's something Cheng Ling is very good at.
When Cheng Huan eats, he feeds him soup.
When Cheng Huan gets up, he makes the bed.
Cheng Huan: "Why are you following me to the bathroom?"
Cheng Ling: "I'm here to hold you steady."
Cheng Ling's inner thoughts: Taking care of Daddy is only right.
Cheng Huan's inner thoughts: ...
Bonus scene:
Daddy's attitude toward teaching Cheng Ling the meaning of "You're still young."
When Cheng Huan sees Cheng Ling walking with another guy, he says coldly, "You're still young. You should focus on your studies."
After getting together with Cheng Ling, Cheng Huan says coldly, "You're still young. Don't overindulge."
Cheng Ling's inner thoughts: "He loves it, but still pretends to be polite."
